Re: [Adminteam-denise] [Adminteam-julie] Multifactor Authentication Required for Access to FAVOR
Craig, I don't believe you need to see me. Julie, can you confirm? If you don't need a badge reader and you're able to login already using your smart card, let me know and I'll take you off the list of people I need to visit. Also, if you don't have FAVOR access let me know so I drop you from the list of visits as well. Thanks! -- Craig On 7/2/19, 1:15 PM, "Stacey, Craig" <[email protected]> wrote: For those of you with FAVOR access: We are ordering readers to use for this - I don't like the ones they give out at the BIS help desk and want to get more reliable ones. I'll send a notice when these are in, and we'll set up times to visit with you, make sure your card reader works, and make sure you can access dash using your Smart Card. -- Craig On 7/2/19, 1:07 PM, "[email protected] on behalf of Argonne Service Desk via ihw_itadmins via ihw_cspr" <[email protected] on behalf of [email protected]> wrote: For your awareness if you have FAVOR users. -Argonne Service Desk From: Mandekich, Kim A. <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2019 3:37 PM To: [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: Multifactor Authentication Required for Access to FAVOR Dear FAVOR User, What are we doing? The Foreign Visits and Assignments (FV&A) office will be working with the Business and Information Services (BIS) division to strengthen the security for all users of the Foreign Visits and Assignments system (FAVOR). The security enhancement will require all users of the system to login using multi-factor authentication with an HSPD-12 or a temporary white card (PIV). Why are we doing it? As you are aware, the DOE foreign visits and assignments process requires the laboratory to collect personally identifiable information (PII) of those who are visiting the laboratory. PII is information that can uniquely identify an individual and has the potential to lead to identity theft. Argonne is committed to the protection of PII, which is an element of the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) family. DOE has issued protection requirements regarding strong authentication when accessing PII. Argonne’s Cyber Security Program Office has issued protection guidance to align with DOE protection requirements via LMS-PROC-22, “Protection of Controlled Unclassified Information”. When are we doing it? Changes to the system will be made on Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 <x-apple-data-detectors://2> What do you need to do? Please pay special attention to future emails that you will receive in the coming days regarding this change. These future emails will provide specific instructions to enable your account for multi-factor access into the FAVOR application. What is the Effect on You? You will no longer be allowed to login to FAVOR after July 31st, 2019 <x-apple-data-detectors://3>, with just your username and password. You will be required to use your HSPD-12 or a temporary white card (PIV).
