Please encourage those in your division who can provide a meaningful research experience to seriously consider one of these young students. In order that we may notify all applicants of their status in a timely manner, we ask that you inform us of your selections no later than APRIL 15. We ask that the staff scientists select 2 alternates in the event their first choice is unavailable. The Pre-College Program will begin on Monday, June 13, 2016 and conclude on Friday, August 5, 2016. Viewing Applications: You can access these applications electronically at https://webapps.anl.gov/register/admin/. You will need to enter your Argonne username as anl\username (example anl\llreed); select "applications"; in the program drop down box, choose "Pre-College"; click "submit query" at the bottom. These applications will only be available for on-line viewing through Friday, April 15, 2016. Funding Pre-College student: Divisions will be required to fully support any Pre-College student selected. The total cost to a division for the eight-week program is $5150.00 ($425.00 per week plus $1750.00 DEP assessment). This cost does not include lab indirect or ALD taxes. Selecting a Pre-College student: · DO NOT submit in Workday at this time. · Argonne is an EEO employer and we are committed to the Lab’s Diversity and Inclusion plan. Therefore, we request that staff identify three (3) candidates that meet their needs and provide rationale for their top selection. · Only one offer to an individual student will be made. There will be no multiple offers. All offers will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To help ensure that the scientists in your division get the students they want, please have your requests to me as soon as possible. · If a student declines an offer, no other offer will be made to this student. The application will be removed from all systems for consideration. NO EXCEPTIONS! · A student selection form is required (attached). The supervisor must submit this form to the Division Rep for approval before sending to me. · Mentors are required to read “Mentor Responsibilities” and take ESH 439 “Safe Supervision of Students” before an offer will be made to the student. · If the applicant is a Legal Permanent Resident, a 593 must be processed by your division after the student accepts the offer. The offer will be contingent upon approval of the 593. Submitting in Workday: · Once a student accepts an offer, we will contact the Division Rep to submit a “Create Job Requisition” in Workday.
