Autoreconf (should) be run on every build; it seems that configure.ac still lists the version as 10.2.3, which is probably wrong. For one thing, our current policy is that the version numbers for trunk/branches should be of the form "1.2.3pre". Should I update this to, say, 12.0.0pre?
