As the site administrator for the Wolfram Mathematica laboratory agreement, I would like to invite users of technical computing software to a Mathematica software presentation by representatives of Wolfram, Inc.

The session will be held on-site Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. in building 240 conference room 1407.

An Introduction to Mathematica for Engineers (1:00pm – 3:00pm) Speaker: Paritosh Mokhasi

In this session, we will be looking into the various features and functionality of Mathematica that can be used for solving problems in engineering. Solving algebraic, nonlinear and differential equations will be introduced along with optimization functions and the use of different visualization capabilities in Mathematica. An introduction to basic programming will also be given in this session.

Biography: Paritosh Mokhasi

Paritosh Mokhasi received his Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago in the area of mechanical and aerospace engineering with focus in the field of computational fluid dynamics and dynamical systems. At Wolfram Research he is part of the Wolfram Sales Engineering team and is a certified WEG instructor. He works closely with Mathematica users in resolving technical issues and collaborates on research projects. He is currently working on developing various numerical functionalities in Mathematica.

· The site agreement offers single and concurrent licensing types depending on your group’s needs and entitles participants to updates, upgrades and support during the term of the subscription.

· Site pricing example: o Under the current site agreement, a single machine subscription license for Mathematica is $360 annually. By comparison: § an individually purchased single machine license for Mathematica would be $1996.00/each. § an individually purchase single license for MATLAB (which is another computing software though not exactly comparable to Mathematica) would be $2100/each.
