Hi Ken, I started copying the files over to the bio machines just now, it will take some time to complete because of the volume of data, I will delete them as soon as it gets done and I have run a couple of checks. Yes, I believe the bio ftp servers can be used, I will verify and get back to you. I created the directory (in /mcs/ftp/incoming/) some time back for a collaborator and was not expecting any files at all let alone a dump this size, sorry if it caused a problem. Can you give me a list of all the subdirectories I own in /mcs/ftp/incoming -- I can delete some of them to prevent this happening again, and clear space in others. A cleaner actually runs and deletes any files older than 30 days in the incoming directory, so anything old should be gone. All the files in this directory were created in the last 24 hours. Our monitoring caught this before we ran out of space, but we're getting close. Just give me a heads up when you have all you need and I will purge them. Hi, I ran into a problem while copying the files over to the bio machines when scp stalled. I am ignoring this and gzipping the files in place. With over 90% compression that will free up 200G of disk space and copying the gzipped files over will take less time with less chance of problems. Mark ----- Original Message -----
