I've finished putting the new version of userbase live, and I'm generally please with the result.  If you are an individual with an interest in the stability of userbase within a particular domain, I would be most pleased if you would walk through the account request process once as a brand new user (ie, an email address unknown to userbase) and with a known email address.  This will not only ensure our platform is all the more tested, but will also give you some insight into your user's experiences. Testing the third method, which is to provide your email address and ANL credentials will also help the cause.

Subject: Userbase update this evening

This evening, at about 8pm, I'll be updating userbase to the latest and greatest release version.  This update a variety of improvements, and should offer an increase in stability for the user-facing components of the system.  These improvements include:

- visual changes to the sponsor page to improve usability
- ldap scripts now verify their operations were successful by re-querying the server instead of relying on library function result codes.  Many scripts are also shared between domains as well
- UI improvements for LCRC account management
- a new state for resource requests was added, which will hold an auto-approved resource in a pending state until the account is approved.  This fixes the issue of users who are supposed to belong to a group, netgroup, etc but are not in LDAP even though they're active in userbase.  (Userbase's scripts do not add inactive users to netgroups, etc)


Additionally, all domain front-ends have received extensive testing and process improvements for the request process.  I feel the user-facing portion of the system is more robust, stable, and all around better than it ever has been in the past.

The next sprint, "Feb3", is nearly planned out, while you're there feel free to review what's coming up, and submit tickets for features, bugs, or just things we need to discuss


I expect the deployment to take more than an hour but less than 3, and I'll be stopping the event queue while this is going on (since much of the script configuration is changing). Account and resource requests will work fine, but updates will not leave userbase until I've setup the new configuration.
