The video conferencing meeting was fairly informative. There is a small rack under the table in 7172 (which by the way isn't on our kiosk conference room list). This rack contains a "matrix" switch and a polycom conference bridge. There is a windows 7 laptop in the room joined to the anl domain that is permanently installed in the room, for conference use. There is no ip connection into AV net from this machine, just VGA out to the polycom bridge. The matrix switch This is what controls the video and audio configuration. There is a web interface to it which lives on AV net. They are working on getting a touchscreen interface installed to control it or an inexpensive netbook. There are some preconfigured profiles on the switch, the default is good for audio conference with is profile 1. Profile 2 should be used for video conferencing. When your finished in the room you should change it back to profile 1. The polycom bridge This can be controlled with the polycom remote. There is a limit of 7 participants with connections terminating on this bridge. To place a call you press the off hook button, then enter the voice number, ip address, or MCU room number (for esnet conferencing). To hang up you press the on hook button and select the participant to disconnect. Esnet conferencing ESnet hosts some larger conference bridges. Our videoconference equipment should be preregistered and configured to dialin to the conference. There are 4 prefixes to dial into an esnet conference bridge 75/78 for hd and 85/88 for standard def. To create a new room just enter one of the prefixes followed by an arbitrary number which you share with the other participants. More info: http://www.ecs.es.net/video/using-video-collaboration-services/ Esnet conferencing with SIP client The esnet conference rooms support SIP video client (ie cisco jabber client) access with <roomid>@es.net For example if I had created room 781234 someone could connect from their ipad using Cisco jabber client and entering [email protected]. Sharing a presentation There is a button on the upper right on the remote to share what is connected to the vga in Moving a remote camera There are nifty controls on the remote to control PTZ on the "near" camera and the "far" camera. The "far" camera would be the cameras in the remote connected rooms. This functionality is definitely available on site (they demo'd it), but I doubt it can be used cross platform. Someone in the room suggested starting a wiki and getting all this information published.. This is being looked into. We might want to get something going in the interim for our users if we start getting questions.
