I think we've hit the point that we need to set up a terminal server again for MCS to use. CIS doesn't feel putting a current version of office on the terminal server cluster is worth their time, and we're finding more and more people running VMs. Is this something we can do with low effort? -- Craig
We have hardware and VM capacity to run a terminal server. Getting it installed is easy. The hard part is going to be figuring out the licensing. I can send Edy a note and ask about terms and cost. ---- Daniel Murphy-Olson Systems Administrator Mathematics & Computer Science Division Argonne National Laboratory 630-252-0055 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Craig Stacey" <[email protected]> To: "Core Admins" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 4:19:17 PM Subject: Setting up an MCS Terminal Server I think we've hit the point that we need to set up a terminal server again for MCS to use. Edy got back to me on this, and I'm working with her to get the license details. After I saw the additional traffic re: windows machines today I asked her if we can run something in trial mode while we are working out the details. It looks like the TS licensing server will serve up temp licenses good for 90 days, and the server evaluation is good for 180. ---- Daniel Murphy-Olson Systems Administrator Mathematics & Computer Science Division Argonne National Laboratory 630-252-0055 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan Olson" <[email protected]> To: "Craig Stacey" <[email protected]> Cc: "Core Admins" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2012 8:52:23 AM Subject: Re: Setting up an MCS Terminal Server We have hardware and VM capacity to run a terminal server.
