The cubbies /carrels whatever are mostly straightened up. Several more loads of all kinds of stuff (junk, spares, stuff, parts) went into the storage closet. If you are missing something its almost certainly in there (somewhere) or tossed at this point. Its pretty tight in there and most things aren't labeled. In addition there was a problem with some spares/stuff of LCRC's that was in the datacenter being misidentified as junk/trash. I propose standardizing on bright pink stickers (like the green excess stickers, but a different similarly obnoxious color) with some kind of rough description of what it is ("spares", "parts", "new tv"), who is responsible for it and the date it was labeled. Anything not labeled is therefore suspect of being junk. The name tells us who to ask and the date tells us if we should reassess the need to keep it around or send it to deep storage. I labeled the shelves and black storage cabinet in the supply closet and the TV that I moved in there for Craig. I didn't label every single thing on the shelves - if some person or some project "owns" all of a set of shelves or something we can just label that and know who to ask. So Corby/Linda's networking stuff will need about 3 stickers, not 40. Rene, I propose the same for boxes or whatnot IN the datacenter. I realize you're hoping to eliminate most boxes from the DC itself but we'll still end up with stuff in there from time to time.
