Based off dmesg, looks like gnep has a dying disk: [18748355.924376] ata3.01: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 [18748355.941600] ata3.01: BMDMA stat 0x66 [18748355.955955] ata3.01: failed command: READ DMA [18748355.970956] ata3.01: cmd c8/00:00:80:ea:64/00:00:00:00:00/f3 tag 0 dma 131072 in [18748355.970958] res 51/84:bf:c1:ea:64/84:00:1c:00:00/f3 Emask 0x30 (host bus error) [18748356.028663] ata3.01: status: { DRDY ERR } [18748356.043370] ata3.01: error: { ICRC ABRT } [18748356.057919] ata3: soft resetting link [18748356.300211] ata3.00: configured for UDMA/133 [18748356.322860] ata3.01: configured for UDMA/133 [18748356.322869] ata3: EH complete Begin forwarded message:

This is a 250g western digital WD2500YS at sdb and is part of a raid0 mdadm. There is a slim chance we can unmount it and dd the data onto a new drive. I'll go searching for a replacement drive. ---- Daniel Murphy-Olson Systems Administrator Mathematics & Computer Science Division Argonne National Laboratory 630-252-0055 ----- Original Message -----

Dan, I think there's a bunch of those in the storage closet behind the cafe - in a box right in front of the door. If that doesn't pan out try the IGSB storage cabinet in there - I keep a couple of moldy oldies for just such an occasion. On Nov 19, 2012, at 10:16 AM, Dan Olson wrote:
