Actually, if you are still working with the trunk you can just send the .gz file itself, if you don't mind sharing it.  The .gz files generated by trunk are (or should be anyway) portable.

I might have already mentioned this, but if not keep in mind that the .gz files you generate from trunk might only be parsable by tools built against that same version.  We don't really worry about backwards compatibility until the official releases.
