      To double check that the alternatives system did the right thing, can 
you can check the output of these commands and send us the results?

   ls -l /etc/alternatives/mpicxx
   ls -l /etc/alternatives/mpiexec

Try running 'sudo update-alternatives --set mpi
             /usr/include/mpich2'. This tells the Ubuntu alternatives
        system to
             use mpich2 by default.

This problem usually comes from having a mix of
        openmpi and

                      both installed on the same machine. Is that the
