I talked with Brian Smith on the phone about this about an hour ago. This should be a good opportunity for us to grok PAMI (née XMI) in a more mature state. The possible weeks he is talking below are the weeks of 9/6-9/10 and 9/27-10/1, which shouldn't conflict with EuroMPI or Cluster (although those weeks do bookend those conferences). They already contacted Jeff Hammond. Is there anyone else from the ALCF or otherwise application side of the world that would benefit from such a workshop? -Dave Begin forwarded message:

Hey guys, just a recap of our phone discussions.

We are looking at having a "PAMI Summit" in September, perhaps the last week of September, for the potential PAMI middleware implementers/users. This would include ANL, LLNL, LBNL (UPC), PNNL (ARMCI), NCSA/UIUC, research, etc.

The plan would be 2 days (probably the end of whichever week it ends up being) of intense PAMI discussions. IBM's goals for the summit are to solicit (early) user feedback on the API and increase PAMI exposure to the middleware users.

The very high level agenda would be something like: First day: PAMI API Overview and then PAMI usage by existing middleware (e.g. MPICH, PGAS runtime, testcases, examples, etc) Second day: Individual middleware implementers/users breakout sessions

If you think these discussions would be useful to other people at ANL (and they are under the BG NDA), feel free to pass this on.

The current thought is to have the summit at Watson (rather POK as I stated on the phone). We will let you know all the final details as we get this arranged.
