PETSc users, We are pleased to announce the release of PETSc 3.1; we urge all users of PETSc 3.0 and earlier versions to upgrade in the near future. We (Hong Zhang and Shrirang Shri) have provided new triangular solve routines for all the sparse matrix data structures which should result in a good performance improvement with many of the solvers.
