I configured PETSc 2.3.3-p3 on Red Hat Linux.
I did not see=
 any new makefiles generated. I came to know about this after checking the t=
ime and date of the makefiles present in the all the subfolders.<=
/span>
 
Do temporary=
 makefiles get generated? I took the log of configure script also. It is doi=
ng some testing.
Can you tell=
 me what testing is it?

We do generat=
e makefiles, just not all of them. Automake is an unreadable,
inpenetrable=
 mess that should never be used by anyone. Thus, we don't use it.=
