Judy/Jim, The following is a list of improvements required and/or requested for the datacenter. 1) Fire Suppression Upgrades: The following changes are requested for the fire suppression system in the TCS Datacenter. Changes labeled "If possible" are less critical, and will depend on the cost to perform them. * Required: Incorporate a full power shut-off before any water flows. At present, an alarm can result in water spraying in the room while power supplies, outlets, CDUs and PDUs are energized. A shutoff to all power in the SSF should occur before any water is released. Any water in the pipes while there are energized PDUs is a significant safety hazard. * Required: Change triggering system to require two VESDA high alarms in two different zones in the room instead of one. At present, a single VESDA unit entering high alarm will trigger an air handling shutoff and pre-load the sprinkler system with water. Instead, two VESDA units should be in high alarm before this can occur. * If possible: Do not fill water pipes until sprinkler point is hit. At present, water is filled into the sprinkler system at the high alarm stage, before the trigger point for actual sprinkler system action occurs. We request that the pipes remain dry until the sprinkler system will actually be spraying, so as to avoid the possibility of premature or accidental water leakage. However, the first requirement still stands - power must be shut off before any water flows into the system. If we cannot implement this particular change, please provide the plan for emptying the pipes before re- energizing the PDUs and computers. * If possible: Change trigger temperature to 165° from 135°. At present, 135° at the sprinkler head will trigger spraying. We feel that temperature may be too low, and would like to investigate raising that to 165°. 2) We request that power and air shutoff buttons in the datacenter be clearly labeled throughout the datacenter (blue is air shutoff, red is power shutoff). Also, we request clarification on the actions of the shut-off buttons. For example, does engaging the power shutoff also shut off the air? If not, it should. 3) We request that hot air return ceiling tiles be redistributed from an unused portion of the datacenter and installed above TeraGrid in BS54-BP54, and BS55-BP55. (See coordinate map in SSF for this location.) 4) We request a quote to have the UPS in the datacenter be connected to the backup generator for TCS. Please provide recommendations on how best to accomplish diesel generator backup for the existing UPS load in the room, as well as potential future growth with a full UPS load. 5) We request quotes to have one or two AHUs in the datacenter to be connected to the backup generator for TCS. UPS integration is not required explicitly, unless recommended by Colliers or AHU manufacturer. 6) Required security upgrade: At present, anyone can let themselves into the locked datacenter by simply sliding a piece of paper or a screwdriver between the main doors and wiggling it around, setting off the motion detector. Please provide some sort of shield across the gap in the doors to prevent this from happening. 7) Sound proofing: There are significant gaps under both the main SSF doors as well as the control room door. The sound pollution from this is pretty significant to the people sitting nearby. Please provide pricing on putting weather or sound proofing at the bottom of the doors to minimize this sound. == Craig
