Hello, You're getting this message because you've been identified as someone who will have access to sensitive NDA-related data for your work. Due to the nature of this data and how it will be shared, you are required to employ full disk encryption for your computer. You've got an action item at the bottom of this message, but please read the whole thing before acting on it. If your computer is managed by CELS Systems, chances are high your disk is already encrypted. Just in case, read on to make sure it is. If your machine is not managed by us, you'll need to turn that option on. We can help with it if you'd like, but it's pretty straightforward. These instructions are for Macs. If your computer is running Windows or Linux, we'll need to work with you to make sure it's encrypted. * Open your System Preferences (Apple Menu in upper left, "System Preferences") and choose "Security & Privacy". * Click "FileVault" tab. * If FileVault is turned on, it will say as much on that screen. If so, hooray, you're done, skip to "ACTION" at the bottom of this e-mail. If it's not encrypted, here's how to turn it on. We can help you ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) if you need help. * If the lock in the lower left corner is "locked", click it to authenticate. If not, go to next step. * Click the "Turn On Filevault" button. -- You will be given the opportunity to create a recovery method, either a long encryption key or your iCloud account. This is a backup if you forget your password. Either choice is acceptable. -- If there are multiple user accounts on your machine, you'll be given the opportunity to authorize them to decrypt the disk, but you'll need to know the password for each account. It's okay to just hit "continue" if you don't need/want to do this. It can be accomplished later. And that's it. You're done. The disk will start encrypting in the background.
