Probably the last time I'll bother you (via this mailing list at least) We're pretty happy with last week's mini-boot camp at the ECP annual meeting in Houston. This year is our first go at such an event, so I'm sure there is room for improvement. Let us know what worked well or did not work at all. We are going to continue to update and refine our boot camp materials, but the ones you saw last week will always be preserved in the '2020- 02-ECP_AM' tag ( https://xgitlab.cels.anl.gov/sds/mochi-boot-camp/tree/2020-02-ECP_AM) We created this mailing list for last week's session but the list is still available as a venue for discussion and questions. summit status

Hello attendees I just wanted to check with everyone about summit. We're assuming you'll show up Thursday ready to 'bsub', 'jsrun' and 'remember where my OLCF token is'. If you are stuck on any of those parts, don't be shy. It would be great if we could knock out any questions ahead of time. If you're not running on Summit, well, applying the lessons from Thursday to your platform of choice will be a good exercise. ==rob

Preliminary information for the ECP AM Mochi tutorial

Hi all, If you are receiving this email, then we are hoping that you will attend our Mochi tutorial ("Customizing Data Services for Fun and Profit") on Thursday February 6. If we have this wrong or your plans have changed, just let us know and we'll take you off of this mailing list. https://whova.com/embedded/subsession/aecm_202001/799272/802108/?view= First of all, thank you for joining us, and we look forward to seeing everyone next month! We want to make the tutorial as interactive as possible so that you can make the most of your time investment. In addition to sharing overview material, we will try our best to have everyone up and running example codes (or their own codes) and working with us on design problems by the end of the session. To that end, we need to get some preliminary logistics out of the way ahead of time so that we can make the most of our time on the day of the event. Stay tuned for more information on that shortly. We are assuming that most of you are interested in running code on Summit, or that you are able to run code on Summit as a starting point. If this is not true in your case, then please let us know ASAP so that we can adjust the material accordingly. Mochi works on a variety of platforms at this point, but in the interest of time we need to narrow things down a bit 🙂 It's also important to note that you must have your own account already on your platform of choice at the ECP meeting; we will not be providing accounts in this tutorial. And finally, a quick note about session attendance: other ECP meeting attendees might visit our session, and if so we will work with them where possible, but we are going to focus our material (and our attention during the tutorial) on attendees that we've coordinated with in advance. thanks, - Mochi team

We're looking forward to seeing everyone in Houston. As Phil said in his introductory message, we only have one day to cover a lot of material, so let's show up ready to go. We'll spend some time in the session giving big-picture context. Until then, there are a few weeks to get your environment set up (and work out the inevitable kinks). Assuming you want to run on Summit, follow this guide: https://xgitlab.cels.anl.gov/sds/mochi-boot-camp/tree/master/ecp-am-2020/se… If you aren't running on Summit you can still follow the general outline of this exercise, though we'll have to adjust a few things for your specific environment. Summit is one of the major ECP platforms, so we are assuming everyone has access to it (or a machine like it). If you get hung up on a step, ask for help on this mailing list or the slack instance.
