Subject: Close out of SEED Mts and Update on budget planning for remainder of FY26
by Stevens, Rick L 12 May '26

12 May '26
Dear Friends, ModCon leadership has been informed by ASCR that ModCon should plan to ramp down the SEED Model Teams by the end of June. SEED Model Teams should use this time to gracefully close down your efforts and capture all the software and data that have been generated and prepare to upload those artifacts to the ModCon GitHub and Data Repository (these are being set up soon). The remainder of the funding for SEED Model Teams should be allocated back to the core ModCon teams at each lab. ASCR leadership has encouraged the ModCon team to budget for the remainder of the FY26 such that approximately 3 months of carryover are available for the first quarter of FY27. The ModCon team will be tasked with onboarding the RFA Phase 1 and Phase 2 teams in July and August and to facilitate their integration into Genesis Mission within our existing means. ASCR is uncertain at this point about the availability and timing of FY27 Genesis Mission funds and want ModCon to be as flexible as possible. We realize this will be a significant challenge. We appreciate all the leaning in that both the core ModCon team and the SEED Model Teams have done this year. We know that DOE also appreciates the hard work and our ability to navigate the ambiguity as the program continues to boot up. We will also discuss this at this next sync up call on Weds. Thanks —Rick, Court and Tom.
