There are a bunch of things here. First, Darius is working on a document that needs to go out to IBM very soon. Second, the Argonne legal folks put together a contributors agreement document; all our collaborators who contribute major pieces of code need to sign that and send it back to us. Third, there might be something that needs to be done for folks who are contributing small pieces of code. I don't think anything is decided on this part yet. -- Pavan On 01/04/2010 12:04 PM, Anthony Chan wrote:
Hi Pavan,
Not sure if I can do this since I don't know the details as much as others. But if no one has time to do this, I am willing to do this ....

Unless someone is willing to take ownership for getting this done, this will keep slipping. I would have volunteered, but I'll be out from Jan. 6-25.

Hi Elad,
(changed Bill's email address to his new UIUC address).
We are working on a contributor's agreement and getting it signed by all the major contributors (we are in discussion with IBM about this and will be sending in an update soon -- probably after the holidays). What parts of the code are FSF/GPL? There shouldn't be any in MPICH2, AFAIK. -- Pavan

Hello,
I am working at IBM and I would like to use the latest version of MPICH2 (version 1.2.1). In the past we used version 1.0.5 and I noticed there were many new authors in the latest version. Do you have a process to check if the authors have authority to contribute the code they submit? Or do you keep track in any way of the contributors?
Additionally, I noticed quite a few new references to FSF and GPL code. Is this new version now GPL licensed? And if not, are these hits only references to GPL/FSF and not actual code licensed under GPL? Many thanks,
Elad
