[mpich2-core] Preparation for the 1.1a2 release

Hi all, In preparation for the 1.1a2 release, I would like to ask people to not commit any new features or disruptive add-ons to trunk at this time. Bug fixes, documentation changes and other changes which are safe (based on your judgment) are OK.
