I see the following error : Exception in date: // date is the app I'm running Arguments: [] Host: frisbee Directory: sanity-20130702-2135-pac3nnmb/jobs/4/date-4cjforbl Caused by: Could not submit job Caused by: Could not start coaster service Caused by: Task ended before registration was received. No md5sum or gmd5sum found In the coaster-bootstrap-log I noticed the following: " curl: (3) <url> malformed " and the rest of the file appears to be weird characters, except for a few lines and the last line being "No md5sum of gmd5sum found" The same sites file with the url changed from frisbee.mcs.anl.gov to crush.mcs.anl.gov works fine, and I'm able to ssh directly to frisbee from swift.rcc. There are two queues I can use, and I don't have much of a preference as to which one my job runs on. My sites.xml has both queues, and my tc.data entries for both. I have replication.enabled=true on my cf. The logs and setup file for this are in ~davidkelly999/replication-test on midway. I have not used replication before, but I think it works like this: When the job is queued by the scheduler beyond replication.min.queue.time seconds (60), a new job should be submitted to the alternate queue and the two should compete for resources. When one job goes active, the second job should get removed. Hemant wrote a Swift script which has about three foreach invocations which he wants to run one after other. In order to achieve this coordination, Hemant is using an int[] in one loop which is passed as input to the app call of another loop. He observes that the coordination is not maintained and both app calls happen simultaneously resulting in application error. Here is a quick reproduction I tried and I observe indeed that coordination is not happening: $ cat dummy.swift type file; app (file out) A (string in1){ dummyA in1 stdout=@out; } app (file out) B (string in1, int[] _art){ dummyB in1 stdout=@out; } file outfileA[]<simple_mapper; location="outdir", prefix="a.",suffix=".out">; file outfileB[]<simple_mapper; location="outdir", prefix="b.",suffix=".out">; int art[]; foreach i in [0:3]{ outfileA[i] = A ("astring"); art[i]=i; } foreach j in [0:3]{ outfileB[j] = B ("bstring", art); } Since the art array is wholly required in app B, one would expect the first foreach to finish befor the call to B gets invoked. This is not happening in my simple test where I ask the executable called by A to sleep for 5 sec and that called by B to print timestamp and quit. I see in the resulting files that the timestamps in B precede those in A. This looks like a bug to me. The test connects to the MCS machines and starts 50 apps, each requiring staging in 10mb files as input over provider staging. This is working correctly on RC3. The swift code is run using: swift -sites.file sites.xml -tc.file tc.data -config swift.properties remote_driver.swift I get the following errors: Execution failed: java.lang.ClassCastException: Invalid type: expected a java.util.List but got a k.rt.MemoryChannel mark @ swift.k, line: 254 Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: Invalid type: expected a java.util.List but got a k.rt.MemoryChannel More in the log : http://swift.rcc.uchicago.edu:8042/remote_driver-163538/remote_driver_lastr… When I have just one remote invocation, say (out[i], err[i], log[i]) = remote_uc3 (wrapper, swift_package); uncommented, the run completes successfully. If two or more remote sites are executed on (as the script is now), it starts reporting errors. This is blocking testing on Trunk now.
