The PBS submit scripts generated in the latest revisions use the multi-node configuration which would use ssh to launch workers on the nodes listed in PBS_NODEFILE. On swan, I see that the PBS*submit.stderr contains the following string : ssh: connect to host 208 port 22: Invalid argument On the swift.out, all I see is "Submitted:5", while I see that the job is active if I poll on qstat. As soon as I kill the swift run, the PBS*submit.stderr file gets wiped. Here's a tarball with logs. http://users.rcc.uchicago.edu/~yadunand/PBS_Bug.tar.gz swift-0.96-tests/run001 and swift-0.96-tests/run003 are runs with rev:6289, which show the current bug. swift-0.96-tests/run003/scripts/foo has a copy of the PBS*submit.stderr before it was wiped. swift-0.96-tests/run002 is a successful run with rev:6284. I'm seeing similar issues on Beagle and Swan, while the tests pass on Blues. The idea is to let users create config for coasters which ignores the advanced box packing of tasks in favor of letting smaller workloads progress. However, when running swift apps through a provider with jobType set to "MPI", this results in mpirun starting multiple _swiftwrap copies with the same parameters. This may or may not result in correct behavior, since multiple _swiftwrap instances will race to do essentially the same thing in terms of directory creation, etc. This needs testing and some thinking.
