It will not work without a definition in tc.data. The reason for that was because it was hard to do the forcing of apps to run on specific sites that way. Instead, there are now wildcards allowed in tc.data, and apps are looked in the following order, the lookup stopping whenever the first match is found: Priority 1 (highest): - look for exact app+site match; e.g. "localhost echo /bin/echo ..." - there is one modification here in that the physical path can be * (as in "localhost echo * ...") to tell swift it should let the OS look for the app. It is equivalent to saying "localhost echo echo ...". Priority 2: - look for exact host name, but wildcard app name: "localhost * * ..." Priority 3: - look for exact app name, but wildcard host: "* echo /bin/echo ..." Priority 4 (lowest): - look for host and app wildcard: "* * * INSTALLED INTEL32::LINUX null" Swift should, by default, ship with a tc.data containing only the "* * * INSTALLED INTEL32::LINUX null" line. This way users can still use the previous behavior by not using wildcards.
