Cobalt 0.98.1 has just been released. This release comes quick on the
heels of 0.98.0 to fix a few important issues, and provides a few
useful features.
Most critically, 0.98.0 had a reference leak in the interface with the
C library that provides access to the bridge API. This causes the
bgsystem component's memory usage to grow without bound. This bug fix
should be sufficient reason for upgrading.
Additionally, we've fixed some problems with reservations,
specifically in their new (in 0.98.0, although perhaps not well
publicized) ability to specify a queue. This allows, for example, an
"overnight" reservation to use the same queue as a "big runs"
reservation.
The cqwait client script now has a --start command line option, which
blocks until the specified jobid has either moved to the "running"
state or disappeared from the queue.
There are some new queue policies that allow more control for how jobs
in a particular queue are ordered by the scheduler. The queue policy
can be set to
largest-first
smallest-first
longest-first
shortest-first
where the first two choices refer to the number of nodes requested,
and the last two choices refer to the walltime requested.
