ROSS debugging?

Hi, Could anybody give some general idea of debugging a ROSS event tree? I'm currently having a problem like node A have sent 2048 events to B, but before B receives all events, the simulation ends normally. And no leftover messages in any queue on routers or terminals. It seems all PE have finished processing all events in their own event tree. If I want to see where those "un-handled" events go, is there a better debugging way other than adding printfs manually? Thanks!

Hi Harsh, You can refer to the instructions at the wiki for running the simulation: https://xgitlab.cels.anl.gov/codes/codes-storage-server/wikis/checkpoint-st… The right config file to use is test-checkpoint-dfly-1T.conf. The one you mentioned is dated so I have removed that to avoid confusion. For a test run, you can reduce the parameter checkpoint_sz in the config (it is currently set to 1TiB which takes some time to complete). For using the Darshan workload generator, please use Darshan versions 2.x (Darshan 3.0 and up are not supported right now). Hi, I have set-up CODES on my cluster and would like to use it to simulate different storage strategies. I wanted to use the darshan logs I have collected along with the local-storage-model in CODES to simulate I/O behavior of the application. My simulation involves not having just one global storage LP, but having: (i) one storage LP per terminal, or (ii) one storage LP per Modelnet_group, or (iii) other strategies. Would the local-storage-model be the correct choice for this? Should I write my own storage model for each scenario? CODES 0.6.0 Released!

Hi All, We are happy to announce the recent release of CODES version 0.6.0. This release comes after an year since the last release so there have been significant changes and additions. We are listing the major changes here (See docs/RELEASE_NOTES for full list of changes): * CODES can now replay MPI collectives by using CoRTex — a library for translating collectives to point to point operations. * Dragonfly network model based on Cray XC topology has been added. The model can use the network configurations of Theta and Edison systems. Custom network configurations can be generated using C scripts. * Fat tree network model with support for adaptive and static routing has been added. The model can support both full and pruned fat tree configurations. * MPI rendezvous protocol can now be replayed in addition to the eager protocol. The transition point for switching between the two protocols is configurable. * Background network communication using uniform random workload can now be generated. The traffic generation gets turned off when the main workload finishes. * C++ models can now be built and integrated with CODES. The new dragonfly model has been implemented in C++. * Test suite has been extended — tests for DUMPI trace replay have been added. * Compatible with the most recent ROSS version that supports gvt/real-time sampling.
