Can you please re-run your case with your old .map file.
I was not able to reproduce your problem and I trying to understand if there a bug in the .map reader.

Thanks a lot, Philipp, for you feedback. I know what you mean: ./makenek
clean. Am I right?
I use this command. It works with gnu compilers, but when i compile nek
with intel ( mpiifort and mpiicc ) it doesn't.
During the compilation a get two types of string in my console: this
mpiicc -c -O2 -DNEKNEK -DMPI -DUNDERSCORE -DTIMER
/home/itp/ryzhenkov/Nek5000/core/3rd_party/finiparser.c -o obj/finiparser.o;
and this
/home/itp/ryzhenkov/Nek5000/3rd_party/gslib/src/libgs.a(gs.o): In function
`cr_exec': gs.c:(.text+0x322): undefined reference to
`ompi_mpi_unsigned_char'.
It seems like in one part ( Nek5000/core/3rd_party/ ) all options set
properly, but in another part ( Nek5000/3rd_party/gslib/src ) links to mpi
library are absent.

I might have fixed my proj_ortho error issue. At least it is running now
without errors on a small test case on my local machine. However, I am
very much unsure if what I was changing is correct.
Can you please confirm that my adjustments are reasonable?
In conduct.f when hsolve is called, I have adjusted the argument list
like this:

And I can never reach a final result to show with vislt. My OS is linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS. During the installing and compiling steps, I also installed gfortran,libopenmpi-dev libmpich2-dev for mpif77 to continue the process.
Could you please give me some advices to solve these problems? Thank you very much!

Yes. This is what I mean. And with old nek version (September 2015) my
function works very well, but now (after upgrade) it doesn't interpolate
velocity slice.
In my function I take two slice from each of session, change bc from P->inP
and v->inv, then set intflag = 1 for face with inv and inP and then i
change bc back to P and v as it was before.

Dear Vatslav,
It's not clear to me how your approach should function if your intent
is to change a Periodic BC to an overlapping-domain-interpolation one.
I guess what you are trying to do is to have one domain that is periodic
and use that to drive the flow in another domain, which is presumably
inflow-outflow? If that is your goal, you might find that recirculating BCs
would be of value (possibly a bit more efficient), depending on your setup.
If we understand the objective we might be able to help.

Simulation hanging at 'mapping elements to processors'

Hello,
I am trying to run a simulation that has ~500,000 elements on 1280 processors with lx1=4 for debugging purposes. My simulation hangs after outputting 'mapping elements to processors’. I generated the mesh with Cubit and then used the exo2nek script to get the re2 file. Genmap runs fine on the re2 file.
I was wondering if this problem has been encountered in the past, and what I could do to fix it.

Dear Neks, I need to calculate the average UY velocity in the top face of
my domain, every timestep. That face is the only one with "v " BC, so I
think it is easier to identify the elements.
Now I need to do it in 2D, but soon I'll have to do it in 3D.
I've been reading something about planar_average_z subroutine, and also
planar_average_xy (for exemple). In navier5 I found only planar_average_z.
Any idea of how could use this subroutine to calculate the UY average in
the top face?
