Hey there. We've thrown together an ad-hoc group (TOPG -- TCS
Occupancy Planning Group) to plan the move into TCS. As part of
constructing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the project,
different areas were carved out. This group (topg-ssf) is the group
that's going to handle the planning for the move into the SSF. To
that end, I've set up a list with (initially) one member from each of
the affected areas. If you'd like to add (or substitute) others, by
all means. Folks can subscribe/unsubscribe at:
http://lists.alcf.anl.gov/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/topg-ssf
Initially, here's what I've got as the points of contact:
Craig Stacey: MCS
Susan Coghlan: ALCF
Ti Leggett: CI
Folker Meyer: IGSB
Andy Huttenga: EVS
Mike Skwarek: CIS
John Tatar: DIS (since DIS is going to be moving into 221 machine room
space, schedules need to be coordinated.)
I expect this group to get larger, I just didn't want to make any
presumptions beyond picking a point of contact. If you don't want to
be the POC, that's cool, too.
The Level I and II WBS is pretty straightforward, we need to figure
out the pieces underneath that. For the record, here's levels I and II:
1.3: Computing Space (SSF)
1.3.1: Planning
1.3.2: Preparation
1.3.3: Relocation
What I'd suggest to everyone on this list is to first decide who else
they want to be part of this planning process. Then start thinking
about what we need to do in the above areas. Some examples that
spring immediately to mind include identifying what equipment is
moving, identifying any special needs of that equipment, including
power connections, cable length/proximity limitations, etc.
I've set up a trac instance (wiki and subversion) at https://trac.mcs.anl.gov/projects/topg-ssf
where we can share docs. I'll populate that with users once we
settle out who will be taking part.
And, a little over a year from now, we'll be moving stuff into the new
machine room. Exciting!
Have a good weekend!
