SSF doors

The doors to the SSF from the dock are 7 feet high. This is not acceptable and we'll be getting them swapped out for large doors. I have two quotes, both for approximately the same amount of money. One will replace them with 8 foot doors similar to the ones we have in place now (though I'll insist on better weatherstripping since there's none on the existing doors). The other will replace the doors with a powered roll-up steel door (and add a pedestrian door), similar to what is on the mechanical support rooms on either side of the SSF. The upside to the roll-up door is that it's big. The downside is that it's got a relatively low insulation factor (R5), will be noisy in the wind, and by its nature can't be sealed as well as the big steel pedestrian doors. The downside to the 8 foot doors is that even they may not be big enough. This is going to be our data center for some time, and who knows what kind of equipment we'll need to get in there. Is 96" going to be too short? We don't want to spend another 16-17k in 5 years to redo this. Feedback, please. We'd like to get moving on this so we can get the bigger doors in place ASAP. == Craig

No meeting today

No meeting today, since we have no meeting room furniture. Updates: electrical contractor chosen, work is beginning today (!). We met with them this morning, and they seem like a good crew. They're also going to do our tile cutting, and securing our network rack. Outlets will be mounted higher up, not at floor level, so we won't need to go spelunking to plug stuff in. No update on fiber purchase, hope to have something later today. == Craig
