Holiday Party is tomorrow, but I still need to eat tonight. Anyone interested in beer & food? If no, I'm thinking of going local (to me); Grumpy Bulldog has Fuller's Porter and Two Bros Bare Tree on tap which I'm interested in trying... (and $5 burgers). [CELS Sysadmins] Annual Holiday Party! December 17th

See http://stace.com/party for details. We’ll be doing a buffet supper, and we’ll have at least one Admiral Sasquatch beer on tap, plus some other tasty beers on tap and in bottles. Other beverages, both adult and not-so-adult, will also be on hand. As always, guests are welcome. Just RSVP by December 9th so we’re sure to get enough food. If anyone has any special dietary needs (vegetarian, no red meat, prefer to hunt and eat living animals), let us know. You know how to reach us. We’ll do the ever-fun White Elephant gift exchange again. If you and your guest(s) would like to participate, please bring a wrapped gift. This might be a gift that you already have in your home or garage. Maybe it’s something that you need to re-gift or is something that you have no idea what possessed you to buy it. Wrap it up and bring it along with you. This has always been a fun part of the party, so don’t be shy and don’t miss out. Declining vs. deleting events

Since most of us get systems(a)mcs.anl.gov mail, occasionally you may find things on your calendar that obviously shouldn't be there. An example was the "WH - M. Snir" appointment today. That will happen because users will forward us messages that have invitations. To fix other problems, we have Zimbra set up to consider those as actual invitations. When you see one of those and you're not on the invitee list, the preferable way to handle that is to delete it, not decline it. If you decline it, you're sending a message to someone who never invited you telling them you're not attending. Thanks. -- Craig

Grid DNs in LDAP

So I created a new schema to allow grid credentials to be kept in LDAP. I created an object class, gridAccount, that is an auxiliary class with the top oc as it's parent (this is similar to the posixAccount and sambaSamAccount oc's). The object class may include 0 or more of the gridDN attribute, which is an IA5 string with case insensitive matching (I couldn't make this attr a distinguished name syntax because grid DNs have slashes and not commas as delineators). The result looks like: dn: uid=leggett,ou=people,dc=ci,dc=uchicago,dc=edu objectClass: gridAccount gridDN: /DC=org/DC=doegrids/OU=People/CN=Torrance Leggett 293840 gridDN: /dc=edu/dc=uchicago/dc=ci/ou=people/uid=leggett/cn=Torrance Leggett Does this sound ok to everyone. Any objections to the nomenclature?
