I'm officially taking a personal day due to imminent uncle-hood, though I'll probably be available on IM at the hospital at some point. The lower-priced MySQL option listed on CDW-G's web site is actually for the Standard Edition (which does not include the desired Enterprise Backup option). If you want to witness my confusion for yourself, compare CDW part numbers 2544516 and 2626913 (same product name, but the latter is Standard; web site prices always skew higher than our quotes). I do not expect any discount on the $3,750/year contract price for citing the disparity. As discussed during yesterday's Beagle operations meeting, alerts and reports will be handled manually until Gold can be fixed or replaced (it is responsible for hung connections on the PostgreSQL server and newly-discovered miscalculations found during hue's recent submission phenomena). An allocation summary spreadsheet was distributed to the group and Paul has been cc:d on alerts for PIs with balances below 25%. I'll be working on a TraM summary document for the Olopades, et al. I expect to have that ready by end of Friday. -- Greg

MCS mail forward update tomorrow morning

Tomorrow morning at 8:25AM userbase's email validation script will run, which checks, and makes sure the username@mcs email address is configured. I found an issue with it in that if the user has no resources, the script would do nothing for that user, and after changing that I have about 15-20 users who will be getting a mail forward resource.. (Max's edit on the resource info are in place, too) It's been vetted, looks good, and this script will continue to run each morning at that time to avoid these large updates. There's an separate verification script that will run about 20 minutes later, which queries newman, so we'll get a closed-loop verification, in a way.. (That script doesn't update anything, just reports, so any fixing that can't be done automatically is done by humans) Just sending this now so there's no one gets alarmed by the automated process.. I'm letting the cycle happen on it's own to ensure everything happens as expected..

Another schedule change

I apologize for this. My schedule on Mon, Wed, and Fri is changing such that I'll now be out of the office from around 9:40 until 11:20 (ie, an hour earlier than before.) As such, the syncs will need rescheduling. Everyone in MCS is typically here by 9, so unless I hear a strong objection, I'm going to say 9:15 daily for that. For the CI Connect syncs, we can move that to 11:30AM daily. -- Craig

xfs help?

One of the volumes on bbsto01 failed to mount with a bad superblock today when the machine was booted. I ran xfs_check and xfs_repair, the latter which resulted in this output: ...................................................................................................................................found candidate secondary superblock... verified secondary superblock... writing modified primary superblock xfs_repair: size check failed xfs_repair: cannot repair this filesystem. Where's Tina - Dec 4th and Dec. 7th

Joe needs to have some medical tests done. I will be going with him and working from the hospital on the following days and times. December 4th - Leaving here around 2:00. Back online around 3:00 to finish out the day and his tests are over. December 7th- Work from home in Morning until we leave to take Vinnie to school and head for hospital at 8:15 am. Online by 9:15 am from hospital and then working till his 4-5 hours of tests are over~ Will finish out the day from home when he is through and after I get him some lunch as he has to fast for 12 hours before this one. T.
