All: I will be on vacation starting tomorrow through 1/6. I will be on-call for MCS and MREN related network issues as well as any ANL network issues that arrive. Hopefully there are none, but there is always a chance. I will be around for the entire time, but will not be on-site unless needed. If anything comes up, or if you need any kind of support, please let me know. If you get called in to work on a problem over break, please keep me in the loop. I am home from hospital and finally in bed. I am hoping to be seen by the Dr, tomorrow. Please put me down for a sick day. I will rest all day, besides going to Dr. The plan is to not go to the hospital tomorrow for Cindy, unless something comes up that I have too. T. Sent from my iPad

IHW shore up

Ken, Dan and I met with Tami and Gene about making progress of migrating from hostbase to IHW and I think we have a pretty decent plan. We have access to the stage environment so we can test messing stuff up without actually messing stuff up. The first step is to lay out the IHW organizations and the networks in those organizations. One thing that needs to happen is to shore up the network information. IHW likes to have DNS names for the gateway, network and broadcast all in a specific format. So one of the first things I'm doing is adding these network and broadcast hostnames to hostbase. I'd also like to rename the gateways to the IHW standard (gw-v<VLAN #>.mcs.anl.gov). Corby's assured me this should have no impact on anything other than traceroute and ping outputs. Unless anyone objects I'll start doing this rename tomorrow (I'm adding the network and broadcast names today).

Fever...

I need to be at the hospital tomorrow, to speak with the team of Dr's. My plan is to head there early so I don't miss any of them. The rest of the week is dependent on tomorrow's plan/decisions being made. if need be, ill be using vacation, but plan to be working while working in between talking to them tomorrow. T. Lunch at Capri

They just called my cell to confirm, they have two bigger parties that they need to put on the patio and we'd be smack dab in between them. We can remain out on the patio or we can move into the resturant. I told her we can look at it when we get there. I also mentioned to her we are a rowdy bunch (doing the gift exchange) and she was OK with us being in the restaurant and being loud.. (oops, forgot to mention the table dancing, wonder what they think about that...) Hope to see you all there. T.
