Preparing for the likely inevitability that my basement will flood; if the power doesn't go out and if my sump pump doesn't burn out, maybe I'll be spared. Just in case, I've moved all that matters out of the basement (except the pool table; anyone wanna help me move it??), and now I'm trying to get the backup natural gas generator to work (it stopped cranking a couple of weeks ago...) so hopefully I'll have some power if commercial power goes. That is until the generator gets submerged... :( John

Skipping lunch

I am skipping lunch today, I need to get Vinnie from the Park Dist. Joe was supposed too, but he got called out this morning with the Swat team and I don't know if he will make it home in time. They swim on Friday's at the Park Dist and Vinnie has a cut on his foot and he thinks the chlorine will hurt it, so he doesn't want to swim.

Where's Chris?

I've just returned home from what would have been my morning commute, however several of Itasca's finest I met at the gas station strongly encouraged I not attempt to make the drive, since my little car "would make a nice anchor" for some of the cars floating down the street at the moment.. So I came home, looked it up, and sure enough just about every route I can think of has at least one flooded out section.. I'm still trying to figure out how 355 (which is mostly an elevated roadway) has flooding issues, but I do remember getting out of the lab just before a tornado lockdown awhile ago, and 355 was under water then, so who knows.. Looks like a good day to camp out in the living room.. Anyway, I have 400 emails in my inbox, so I'll try to catch up..
