I configured PETSc 2.3.3-p3 on Red Hat Linux. I did not see any new makefiles generated. I came to know about this after checking the time and date of the makefiles present in the all the subfolders. Do temporary makefiles get generated? I took the log of configure script also. It is doing some testing. Can you tell me what testing is it? AOApplicationToPetscPermuteInt() help needed

Will whoever wrote the manual pages for all the AOApplicationToPetscPermute*() routines please add more documentation explaining what they do? Maybe some algebraic formula or something: "Permutes an array of blocks of reals in the PETSc ordering to the application-defined ordering." means nothing to me. How long is "array[]", what does permute mean in this context? Barry

We do generate makefiles, just not all of them. Automake is an unreadable, inpenetrable mess that should never be used by anyone. Thus, we don't use it.
