Core-admins changes

Right now, core-admins(a)mcs.anl.gov includes three sublists: core-staff, core-students, and core-other. Effective now, I'm adding a fourth: core-admins(a)ci.uchicago.edu. This will avoid issues where one of us sends to the wrong group, or when something that's really relevant to the whole group only gets shared with half. -- Craig

Failure to wear proper gloves when conducting a zero energy check did not conform to the requirements of National Fire Protection Association 70E. Additionally, the voltage probe used to perform the zero energy check was insufficiently rated for testing the potential energy of the capacitors. The capacitors, fully charged had a potential for 2,250 volts and the researcher used a probe rated for up to 1,000 volts. There was a possibility of slightly burned hands (if not wearing gloves) from a thermal or small arc flash within the arc flash boundary of 10 inches. According to National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s electrician there was not enough energy to damage the meter. The capacitor was not likely to explode given the task (zero energy check). Data Center Issues in 240

Mg-rast people - We have a temperature emergency in the 240 datacenter. I'm shutting hiroshima nodes and nagasaki nodes down - they run the hottest. Gonna try and leave everything else up. The lessons learned in the list below are lessons we learned a long time ago. Still, it's clear others in DOE haven't learned. :) -- Craig Begin forwarded message: > Hi, everyone. Attached are the summaries of electrical incidents occurring in March within the DOE-complex as derived from the initial ORPS reports. Lessons learned include: > > · Modifications to electrical utilization equipment must be approved by a DEEI. > · Covers to prevent exposure to energized equipment must be kept intact. > · Only trained qualified electrical workers are permitted to perform electrical work. > · Stay alert to possible electrical hazards not identified in the work package. > · Follow the procedure in LMS-PROC-152 when performing blind penetrations and follow the Dig Permit and other applicable procedures when performing excavations. > · Maintain awareness for the possibility of suspect/counterfeit electrical items. > · New electrical installations need to be inspected for conformance with the NEC in accordance with LMS-ESH-9.3, 9.3.10 to reduce the probability of installation problems that could result in electrical shorts or shock. > · Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, the general, simple procedure in LMS-PROC-185 or a complex, written procedure as described in LMS-ESH-7.1. Apply Lockout/Tagout before removing electrical equipment panels or any electrical work is performed. Check the integrity of the lockout devices and that they prevent energization.
