So here is the ticket system that CIS uses: https://argonne.service-now After speaking with Gene this morning, he has informed me that unless you actually respond to tickets from the above site, it is not recorded in the ticket? So if you respond back via email to a ticket you submitted, it will not go into the ticket and they don’t see it. (Gene, am I saying this correctly, per our conversation this morning) Gene is going to see if Systems can get access to this site so we can track out tickets we send to CIS. T

[CELS Sysadmins] Python / Exchange Calendaring

So we've got a wonderful suite of tools in place for some management activities that make use of REST calls to communicate with our Zimbra server's calendar. However, as we all know, we're normalizing on Exchange and soon these management tools will not work. Does anyone have a working set of python libraries they use for communicating with Exchange calendar? We're doing our own digging through the various available libraries already. I'm looking to see if anyone has already found a solution they're happy with. Or at least might recommend. Maybe that they wouldn't recommend against. This year’s renewal of the Adobe contract has brought on many more challenges to the management and distribution of the products. There are many unknowns with respect to new license requests as well as uncertainty in how to successfully manage the Adobe subscription offerings. So here is my attempt to clarify what I can at this time: Adobe is now offered and as a result managed in two different ways: A) Creative Cloud Subscription Products and B) Licensed (what laboratory had before) non-Subscription Products Creative Cloud SUBSCRIPTION PRODUCTS: As many of you are aware, the Adobe has only offered their Creative products as an annual subscription. License Type: Per user* (Using Eracent, this count will be based on a domain login which can link back to HR data. Admin and local logins do not have associated HR data) Point Product Subscription pricings: ~ $220/ea/year Ex. After Effects, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Fireworks, Flash Pro, InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro Creative Cloud Enterprise (CCE) Package Subscription pricing: ~$680/year Previously Creative Cloud Suites, ex. Design STD/PREM, Web PREM, Production PREM, MASTER Collection Subscription Additions: Counted as a True up in the next contract renewal. Software Distribution: The internal download site has a file size limitation. Many of the point products will be able to be posted on the Adobe download site. For products not available on the download site, i.e. the CCE package, please contact me. *Challenge: A User based inventory based on login information with associated HR data. Absent a way to identify a user, the count will default to machine. LICENSED NON-SUBSCRIPTION PRODUCTS: License Type: Counted Per device Product maintenance pricing: VARIES Products: Acrobat STD/PRO, Captivate, Contribute, Flash Builder STD, Photoshop/Premiere Elements, Robohelp Office New License and Maintenance Additions: Contract is amended every quarter*. *Challenge: At this time many of the Amos orders cannot be executed because the IT Site agreement products orders use property numbers (used for order validations and deployment notification). This is because property numbers for IT assets are no longer recorded in the property database. We in CIS are looking to find an alternative solution for this. So, because a resolution will take some time, the only alternative is a manual request to me for new licenses with the provision of a full cost code. Software Distribution: Most of the products will be available on the internal download site. For products not available on the download site, please contact me. I emailed the below to Edy and then received the below response. She then called me when I asked her how to proceed with purchasing Adobe products. She stated this to me: The Adobe Creative Suites is a subscription package - depending on which package you choose, you will have a yearly fee ranging anywhere from $200-700+. These subscriptions are User based. They are currently testing deploying these packages and think they have successfully done so for the PC side of the world. However, they are just beginning the MAC side. All other Adobe products have perpetual licenses and right now they are unsure how to proceed with ordering and deploying these seats. There is talk of ANYONE who wants these products (including MS products or any Lab Wide Software) that they will need to have Erracent on their machines in order to get these products. CIS no longer wants the responsibility of having to true-up with the software companies for seats they can't keep track of. She said she will keep me posted as how this is going to play out and if we wanted to meet as a group with any questions, she'd be happy to meet with us. T.
