Call me dense but I don't know which machine we should be connecting to at this point or if it varies by application. coredb isn't running mysql at this point I know that. But that leaves coredb-2 and coredb-3. I thought we were supposed to be using coredb-3 but I just want to make sure about that.

lal host records

lal has 4 host records that are defined in hostbase. I need to clean these up and make them consistent: 140.221.8.18 : forward resolves to lal.mcs.anl.gov, lal.mcs.anl.gov reverse resolves to this IP 140.221.8.26 : forward resolves to lal.mcs.anl.gov, lal-fast.mcs.anl.gov reverse resolves to this IP 10.140.221.11 : forward resolves to lal.mcs.anl.gov, lal-mgmt.mcs.anl.gov reverse resolves to this IP 10.140.221.12 : forward resolves to lal.mcs.anl.gov, lal-tape.mcs.anl.gov reverse resolves to this IP The last 2 seem straight forward and I can fix on import to IHW. What about the first 2? Should reverse for lal.mcs resolve to 8.18? What's the 8.26 IP for? What are the MACs for each of those interfaces? Also, I can't seem to login to lal.

Missed username transition

Rusty Lusk (b30981) didn't show up on the list of people to migrate because the account name "lusk" is taken, but it's taken by him. This is the same case as with Steve Tuecke's account. We need to get Rusty's account changed over. I wonder if there's a way we can identify others in this state to catch them before marking them as going the other way. -- Craig

Half day on Thursday

We just found that because of the Taste of Bolingbrook happening Thursday, we won't be able to setup Amy's booth as late as we normally do. At least for now, I'm requesting a half day vacation to take off that morning in order to get setup. I know we're short staffed this week, so if something comes up and I need to be in on Thursday morning, I'll cancel the half day and figure out some other way to get her setup in time. So for now, please put me down for a half day vacation on Thursday.

silver disk space

Right now there seems to be a good amount of space on silver's drive, it's actually increased since last week, I assume people have deleted some stuff, but I haven't looked. There's currently 123 GB available (;ast week there was 110GB). I cleaned up a little more, I removed old software update archives, (at one point silver was storing the Apple system update software). I doubt it will fill while I'm gone, but I've spoken with Cheryl and she is OK with moving some of her older files off the drive. I don't think it's necessary at this point, so I'm not going to move anything, but in anticipation of the possibility I've attached a 2TB USB drive to silver called fantom2TB and created a share on it called "zidel old files" and shared that giving zidel r/w ACL, and root posix ownership, all others no access. If someone is going to help her move stuff then they might want to add themselves to the access list. I've made sure that the drive is being backed up by time machine. TSM is backing everything up under / so it should get backed up, but that should be checked tomorrow to be sure. -- Max Trefonides MCS Systems maxadam(a)mcs.anl.gov
