I understand using tm_spawn to launch proxies on the sister moms. To launch proxy on the mother superior one doesnt need to use tm_spawn, i.e., mpiexec can fork it on mother superior. I havent looked through the code to see if this is the issue. -- Bharath

Problem with MPICH when using system()

Dear All, I would like to install the MPICH3.0.3 on Windows, but I am having problems with it. Although the manual tells that it can be compiled as: Download mpich-x.y.z.tar.gz and unzip it. Bring up a Visual Studio Command prompt with the compiler environment variables set. Run winconfigure.wsf. If you don't have a Fortran compiler add the --remove-fortran option to winconfigure to remove all the Fortran projects and dependencies. Execute winconfigure.wsf /? to see all available options. it is impossible to do so, as winconfigure.wsf does not seem to be correct (Line 280; there is no src/common directory; the script always fails to run). I used Visual Studio 2010 Command Prompt (winconfigure.wsf --remove-fortran). Can anybody help me how to compile it? Best regards, Laszlo

Problem with MPICH when using system()

Dear All, I would like to use the version 1.4.1p1 Windows x86 or x64 version. But I am having problems with it. Supposing that I write a very simple program: int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int l_iResult=MPI_Init (&argc, &argv); system("\"C:\\Windows\\notepad.exe\""); MPI_Finalize(); return 1; } It fails to execute correctly with MPICH (e.g. mpiexec -np 1 test.exe). If I launch only test.exe, it will execute correctly. However when using mpiexec, notepad does not appear (but it can be seen in the process tree). Of course the actual goal is not to start notepad.exe, but I did not succeed actually in launching any other program. I know that in old versions of OpenMPI system() calls were not supported either, but new versions actually do support it, and in theory I think MPICH supports it as well. I am using Visual Studio 2010 SP1 for compilation. If anyone could give me a clue where the problem is, I would be grateful!

Hello all. I am trying to run the latest MPICH-3.0.3 on Linux and Windows. There are no problems with building MPICH on Linux. Some difficulties with running are not so important. But building on Windows became a great deal problem (I use Windows 7, MS VS 2010, Visual Fortran XE 2011) . Direct implementation the instructions from the user guide gave no results. The script winconfigure.wsf prints the messages like ERROR: 67 definitions n (156 instances of unhan Unhandled @foo@'s: @MPI_COUNT_DATATYPE@, Invalid format in mpich Version file. Expected: "MPICH_VERSION_NAME MPICH_VERSIO N" format Unhandled definitions PACKAGE PACKAGE_URL ROMIO_BG Some header files like glue_romio.h are absent in the directory /mpich-3.0.3. They are to be downloaded from the internet. The file mpi.h generated by the script has simbols like "@" which are not recognized by the VS. Some header files do not have the correct end of file. What is the reason of such situation? Please help.
