Dear MCS, We will have an all-hands meeting Monday, December 2, 2013 at 2:00 in TCS Conference Center room 1416. This will be an opportunity for an update on strategy, safety, personnel, finance, and other division business; and an opportunity to discuss priorities for the coming months. We also invited Aaron Sauer, Software Commercialization Associate from TDC (Technology Development and Commercialization) to come and give a summary talk regarding software patents. Seeking volunteers for CS education and outreach

Dear MCS Community: Mike Papka is exploring several potential educational and outreach programs aimed at teaching CS principles to K-12 students. An example would be the TEALS project that pairs computer scientists and high school teachers to teach a CS course one morning a week. He is also trying to get a sense of who might be interested in volunteering their time in support of such activities. Based on the response, Laura Wolf <lwolf(a)anl.gov> will coordinate and announce the opportunities. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail her in the next week or so. Thanks! Janet
