*** Call for Research Projects @RCIS Track *** 14th International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Science (RCIS 2020) Royal Apollonia Beach Hotel 5*, Limassol, Cyprus May 20-22, 2020, Limassol, Cyprus http://www.rcis-conf.com/rcis2020/researchProjects.php Submission deadline: March 21, 2020 (AoE) RCIS 2020 features a new track entirely devoted to presenting results and perspectives of research projects (e.g. H2020 or ERC projects, national grants) in the context of Information Science. This track features a good opportunity for both presenters to disseminate the results of their projects, and for participants to get an updated view of ongoing research while getting in touch with potential research partners. The Research Projects @RCIS Track follows a two-step publication process. Firstly, the authors should submit a 2 pages paper summarizing the objectives of the project and relevant results. Each submission will be peer reviewed on the relevance of the submitted paper in the context of RCIS. If the paper is accepted, the authors will have to register to the conference in order to present their work at the Posters and Demos session at RCIS. After the conference, presenters will have the opportunity to submit the presented poster, which will be published in the RCIS 2020 website. No shows will be excluded from the final proceedings. SUBMISSION PROCESS Each submission will be reviewed by at least 2 members of the RCIS scientific committees, and should include: * Project full name, acronym, duration (from-to) and URL * Names of presenter(s) and main contributors * Summary of project objectives and expected tangible outputs. * Summary of current project results Papers shall be formatted according to the Springer LNCS/LNBIP conference proceedings template. To ensure uniformity, we have prepared ready-to-use templates for Word and LaTeX which are available on the conference web site. References and appendices must be included within the 2 pages. The workshop aims to act as a liaison, a common forum for experts from computing domains, such as HPC, big data, AI to discuss the infrastructure-related problems that could be tackled through a concerted approach. The workshop combines three major domains of high interest to HPDC under one umbrella that emphasizes convergence: high performance computing, big data analytics, large scale machine learning. The case for deep convergence needs pragmatic arguments. Addressing the lack of performance studies for the deep convergence problem, in this workshop we will provide a dedicated forum for preliminary performance studies of processing representative big-data and HPC workloads on a common infrastructure. In our vision, the deep convergence entails defining common software-and-hardware ecosystems, catering to the needs of all computing domains. To achieve deep convergence, we advocate for a complete redesign of the software-hardware stacks through software-hardware concertation. This is achieved by identifying common software building blocks for all computing domains, mapping them to their most suited hardware, and offering efficient mechanisms for combining these in efficient, large-scale workflows. Such workflows would have the capability to efficiently describe combinations of HPC, AI, and BD workloads, that efficiently share resources on a deeply converged infrastructure. Topics of Interest We invite the submission of original work that is related to the topics below. The submitted articles can either be short papers (2 pages), position papers (4 pages), or full research papers (4-6 pages). We also accept “talk-only” submissions, of at most 2 pages, which will not be included in the proceedings, but the authors will be allowed a full presentation slot. Camera-ready version of accepted papers must be compliant with the ACM Master Template with sigconf format (please be sure to use the current version). We especially encourage submissions that look into the convergence of the three focus domains - HPC, BD, and AI. CFP – GECON 2020 17th International Conference on Economics of Grids, Clouds, Systems & Services http://2020.gecon-conference.org 15-17 September 2020, Izola, Slovenia Springer LNCS Proceedings /Scope/ GECON 2020 builds upon the very successful tradition of the conference previous editions since 2003, (http://www.gecon-conference.org) GECON solicits contributions that are interdisciplinary, combining business and economic aspects with engineering and computer science related themes. Contributions to this conference can include extensions to existing technologies, successful deployments of technologies, economic analyses, analyses of technology adoptions, and theoretical models. We welcome papers that combine micro- and macro-economic principles with resource management strategies in computer science and engineering. Case studies, which demonstrate practical use of economic strategies, benefits and limitations, are particularly encouraged. The purpose of this event is to gather original work and build a strong multidisciplinary community in this increasingly important area of a future information and knowledge economy. GECON 2020 solicits full papers, work-in-progress (WIP) papers and wild-and-crazy-idea (WACI) papers. Original full papers present completed research that is original and contains new ideas or methodologies. The paper illustrates results that demonstrate the performance of the research. Original WIP papers present research that addresses a challenging research question but does not necessarily contain a completed analysis. Original WACI papers present a new idea about a method, technology, hardware, or software that has not been implemented or cannot even be implemented with the current state-of-the-art in technology. After the success of the last edition, GECON will include a poster session. Posters may be submitted directly to the poster session. With the objective of encouraging alternative forms of participation that can increase the opportunity to discuss technical topics in an atmosphere that fosters the active exchange of ideas we solicit special topic and Birds of a Feather session proposals. The special sessions program seeks to provide venues for specialist groups to meet, to generate focused discussion on specific sub-areas within the economics of distributed systems, and to engage in community-building activities. Special sessions should provide a discussion forum for researchers in topics related to topics of the conference, either on specific research themes, or in emerging areas of research. Birds of a feather session seeks promote discussions to spark an attendee-organized exploration or collaboration on a topic impacting your work or industry. Both, birds of a feather and special topic sessions can be used, for example, for giving the opportunity all participants to present intermediate/final results of projects, finding partners to establish collaborative research and innovation projects, or PhD students to present and discuss their dissertations with fellow PhD students, senior scholars and industry participants. The ISC research poster session is an excellent opportunity to present your latest research results, projects and innovations to a global audience including your HPC peers. This year, for our 5th edition, we propose to give a specific twist to address the system and operating system aspects of the storage stack. The addressed workloads remain HPC, Big Data, Cloud, and Artificial Intelligence. All these data intensive domains have to overcome the I/O bottleneck by analyzing the performance, detecting parameters restricting the performance and eventually providing I/O optimizations. WOPSSS intends to encourage the discussion of these topics between researchers and practitioners from both the academic and the industrial worlds. The workshop is held in conjunction with EuroSys'20. Submission Guidelines All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Papers need to be submitted via Easychair (http://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wopsss20) Papers are required to be formatted according to ACM SIG proceedings (https://www.overleaf.com/read/vkypwtbmtrkv) The submissions are "single-blind", i.e. submissions are allowed to include the author names. We invite researchers to submit summaries of their own work recently published in top-tier conferences and journals. Contributions are selected based on their scientific quality and their relevance to the GECCO community. Typical contributions include (but are not limited to) evolutionary computation papers that have appeared at venues different from GECCO, papers comparing different heuristics and optimization methods that have appeared at a general heuristics or optimization venue, papers describing applications of evolutionary methods that have appeared at venues of this application domain, or papers describing methods with relevance to the GECCO community that have appeared at a venue centered around this method's domain. In any case, it is the authors' responsibility to make clear why this work is relevant for the GECCO community, and to present the results in a language accessible to the GECCO community. Acceptance Criteria --------------------------------------------------------------------- * The HOP paper must be of significant interest to the GECCO community. * The HOP paper must have appeared in a well-respected journal or conference proceeding. For journal publications, it suffices that the paper is finally accepted and available on the publisher's web page. * The HOP paper must not have been published in its final form earlier than 2019. * The core content of the paper must not have been presented at a GECCO conference before. Publication --------------------------------------------------------------------- Submitters to the HOP track have the choice between only giving a talk at the conference or giving both a talk and having their abstract appear in the GECCO Proceedings Companion. The track is equally happy with both formats. Acceptance/rejection of the submission will only be based on the acceptance criteria described above, not on the submission type. Submission --------------------------------------------------------------------- A submission that aims at becoming a 2-page paper in the GECCO Proceedings Companion must follow relatively strict rules. It must consist of the 2-page paper that shall appear in the proceedings and a compulsory appendix with additional details. The paper part should give a concise description of the main results of the work in a language understood by the GECCO community. Where not obvious from the result, the particular interest to the GECCO audience must be clearly explained. The abstract of the 2-page paper must clearly indicate the original paper it is based on. This part of the paper, at the moment of submission, must be in the form the authors propose for its appearance in the Proceedings Companion. The compulsory appendix (which will be used for reviewing purposes alone) may contain any additional information the authors want to provide to the reviewers. It must contain a complete description regarding the way the results may have been presented at previous GECCO conferences. It must also contain a direct link to the original paper in PDF format. If the original paper appeared at a venue the reviewers might be unfamiliar with, then an explanation of its reputation is desirable. Any other arguments in favor of the paper should be provided as well. The appendix should be brief. Apart from these rules, the same formatting rules apply as for the late-breaking abstracts. Nevertheless, it remains the authors' duty to take care of the copyright situation. CALL FOR PAPERS: 16th International Workshop on OpenMP IWOMP 2020 September 23-25, 2020 Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) Austin, TX USA Paper Deadline: April 24 (check updates @website) https://www.iwomp2020.org The International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP) is an annual workshop dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel programming with OpenMP. It is the premier forum to present and to discuss issues, trends, recent research ideas, and results related to parallel programming with OpenMP. We solicit quality submissions of unpublished technical papers that detail innovative, original research and development related to OpenMP. BACKGROUND: As computing hardware has evolved from simple core reproduction to advanced SIMD units, deeper memories, and heterogeneous computing, OpenMP has also evolved and extended its application interface to harness new capabilities throughout the spectrum of hardware advances. New features and extensions of the OpenMP 5.0 interface have taken major steps to provide control of the parallelism within the paradigms and complexity of modern C/C++ and Fortran programming languages. OpenMP enhancements range from operational aspects deep within the vector execution units, up through the cores and memory, and beyond, to offloading across accelerator devices. Advances in technologies, such as multi-core processors and OpenMP devices (accelerators such as GPGPUs, DSPs or FPGAs), Multiprocessor Systems on a Chip (MPSoCs), and recent developments in OpenMP itself (e.g., metadirectives and variants for selecting device- and architecture-specific directives) present new opportunities and challenges for software and hardware developers. Recent advances in the C, C++ and Fortran base languages also offer interesting opportunities and challenges to the OpenMP programming model.
