We are particularly interested in research which reports the ability to measure and make trade-offs in software/hardware co-design to improve sustained application performance. We are also keen to capture the assessment of future systems, for example through work that ensures continued application scalability through peta- and exa-scale systems. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers, from industry and academia, concerned with the qualitative and quantitative evaluation and modeling of high-performance computing systems. Authors are invited to submit novel research in all areas of performance modeling, benchmarking and simulation, and we welcome research that brings together current theory and practice. We recognize that the coverage of the term performance has broadened to include power consumption and reliability, and that performance modeling is practiced through analytical methods and approaches based on software tools and simulators. Submissions are limited to 8 pages using 10pt fonts in the ACM conference proceedings template. The 8-page limit includes figures and tables, but does not include appendices and references. A separate Late-Breaking Research and Preliminary Techniques stream is also available for authors to submit 4-page papers, not including appendices or references, describing initial research or early first-of-a-kind results. The review process will be double anonymous, and authors should prepare their papers as such, removing author names and institutes; failure to do so will result in the paper being rejected without review. To do so, HPC software developers need intuitive support tools for debugging, performance measurement, analysis, and tuning of large-scale HPC applications. Moreover, data collected from these tools such as hardware counters, communication traces, and network traffic can be far too large and too complex to be analyzed in a straightforward manner. We need new automatic analysis and visualization approaches to help application developers intuitively understand the multiple, interdependent effects that algorithmic choices have on application correctness or performance. The Workshop on Programming and Performance Visualization Tools (ProTools) brings together HPC application developers, tool developers, and researchers from the visualization, performance, and program analysis fields for an exchange of new approaches to assist developers in analyzing, understanding, and optimizing programs for extreme-scale platforms. Recent developments, such as the expansion of the memory hierarchy and the increasingly blurred line between memory and storage, coupled with the introduction of new memory technologies, such as high-bandwidth memory, non-volatile memory, and disaggregated memory, further complicate the situation. The prevalence of heterogeneous computing, ongoing advancements in the memory hierarchy, and the rise of disaggregated architectures significantly broaden the scope of this challenge. Simultaneously, the proliferation of large machine learning (ML) models, graph processing applications, and traditional scientific applications facing bottlenecks due to memory latency, bandwidth, or capacity issues continue to drive researchers, professionals, and practitioners to enhance memory system design and memory management, overcome the constraints imposed by the memory wall, and facilitate high-performance memory-intensive applications. Computer architecture, operating systems, storage systems, performance models, tools, and applications themselves are being enhanced or even redesigned to address the performance, programmability, and energy efficiency challenges of the increasingly complex and diverse memory systems for HPC and data-intensive applications. Exploring the intersection of these research areas will enable cohesive and synergistic development and collaboration on the future of memory technologies, systems, and applications. WORKSHOP TOPICS This workshop aims to bring together computer science and computational science researchers, from industry, government labs and academia, concerned with the challenges of efficiently using existing and emerging memory systems. The term performance for memory systems is general, to include latency, bandwidth, power consumption and reliability from hardware memory technologies to the software stack to impacts manifested in application performance. Call for Participation HUST 2025: The 12th International Workshop on HPC User Support Tools Held in conjunction with SC25: The International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis Supercomputing centers exist to drive scientific discovery by supporting researchers in computational science fields. To make users more productive in the complex HPC environment, HPC centers employ user support teams. These teams serve many roles, from setting up accounts, to consulting on math libraries and code optimization, to managing HPC software stacks. Often, support teams struggle to adequately support scientists. HPC environments are extremely complex, and combined with the complexity of multi-user installations, exotic hardware, and maintaining research software, supporting HPC users can be extremely demanding. With the twelfth HUST workshop, we will continue to provide a necessary forum for user support team members, tool developers, policy makers, end users, and system administrators. We will provide a forum to discuss support issues and we will provide a publication venue for current support developments. Best practices, user support tools, and any ideas to streamline user support at supercomputing centers are in scope. RISC-V is an open standard Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) which enables the royalty free development of CPUs and a common software ecosystem to be shared across them. Following this community driven ISA standard, a very diverse set of CPUs have been, and continue to be, developed which are suited to a range of workloads. Whilst RISC-V has become very popular already in some fields, and recently the sixteen billionth RISC-V core was shipped, to date it has yet to gain traction in HPC. However, there are numerous potential advantages that RISC-V can provide to HPC and, assuming the significant rate of growth of this technology to date continues, as we progress further into the decade it is highly likely that RISC-V will become more relevant and widespread for HPC workloads. Furthermore, recent advances in RISC-V make it a more realistic proposition for HPC workloads than ever before. An example of this is a range of new RISC-V CPUs and accelerators that we are starting to see which provide far greater performance than previous generations. The open and standardised nature of RISC-V means that the large, and growing community, can be involved in shaping the standard and tooling. This is important from two perspectives, firstly it is our opportunity in the HPC community to help shape the future of RISC-V to ensure that it is suitable for the next generation of supercomputers. Secondly, whilst there are a wide variety of RISC-V CPUs currently available, the standard nature of the tooling means that very often the same software ecosystem comprising the compiler, operating system, and libraries will run across these whilst requiring few changes. This workshop aims to bring together those already looking to popularise RISC-V in the field of HPC with the supercomputing community at-large. By sharing benefits of the architecture, success stories, and techniques we hope to further popularise the technology and increase involvement by the community. This myriad of devices requires an unified hybrid approach that allows efficient and scalable hybrid approaches combining classical and novel computing paradigms to be implemented at scale. These extreme-scale heterogeneous systems require novel scientific algorithms to hide the complexity, hide network and memory latency, have advanced communication, and have no synchronization points where possible. With the advent of AI in the past few years the need of such scalable mathematical methods and algorithms for such hybrid architectures that are able to handle data and compute intensive applications at scale becomes even more important. Scientific algorithms for multi-petaflop and exa-flop systems also need to be fault tolerant and fault resilient, since the probability of faults increases with scale. Resilience at the system software and at the algorithmic level is needed as a crosscutting effort. Key science applications require novel mathematics and mathematical models and system software that address the scalability and resilience challenges of current- and future-generation extreme-scale heterogeneous high performance computing (HPC) systems. Submission Guidelines --------------------- Authors are invited to submit manuscripts in English structured as technical papers in PDF format with at least 5 letter size (8.5in x 11in) pages in the double-column ACM Primary Article format and not exceeding 8 pages, plus an optional 4-page Artifact Description Appendix.
