Call for Submission Stabilization Period: Sep 29th - Oct 3rd, 2025 Submission Deadline: Nov 7th, 2025 AoE (deadline extended) The IO500 will soon be accepting and encouraging submissions for the upcoming 17th semi-annual IO500 Production and Research lists, in conjunction with SC'25. Once again, we will also be accepting submissions to the 10 Client Node Challenge to encourage the submission of small scale results. View the requirements for submitting to each list on the IO500 Submissions Webpage. The new ranked lists will be announced at the "IO500: High Performance Storage Community" BoF. We hope to see many new results. The tag io500-sc25 should be used for submissions to this version of the benchmark list. Background Following the success of the Top500 in collecting and analyzing historical trends in supercomputer technology and evolution, the IO500 was created in 2017, published its first list at SC17, and has grown continually since then. The benchmarks represent community accepted standards, including being used in Request for Proposals for new HPC platforms. The benchmarks showcase the IO access pattern extremes giving a full picture of storage system potential performance. The list is about much more than just the raw rank; all submissions help the community by collecting and publishing a wider corpus of data. The multi-fold goals of the benchmark suite are as follows: Represent naive and optimized access patterns for the execution of a rich variety of HPC applications, their achievable performance, and the documentation of how the numbers are achieved. Support small to extreme-scale Research and Production HPC systems using flexible storage APIs Maximizing simplicity in running the benchmark suite Specifically, the benchmark suite includes a hero-run of both IOR and mdtest configured however possible to maximize performance and establish an upper-bound for performance. It also includes an IOR and mdtest run with highly prescribed parameters in an attempt to determine a lower performance bound. New in this release is a random 4KB read phase, to better understand the performance of non-sequential IO patterns used in AI workloads. Finally, it includes a namespace search as this has been determined to be a highly sought-after feature in HPC storage systems that has historically not been well-measured. Supported storage APIs are those that are part of IOR and mdtest. Extending these tools with a public pull request can be done to enable new storage APIs. The goals of the community are also multi-fold: Gather historical data for the sake of analysis and to aid predictions of storage futures Collect tuning information to share valuable performance optimizations across the community Encourage vendors and designers to optimize for workloads beyond "hero runs" Establish bounded expectations for users, procurers, and administrators Understand and be able to reproduce performance on storage systems Using the IO500 Reproducibility guidelines, each submission is labeled according to the breadth of details provided and the access to the deployed storage software that enables the community to reproduce the results and study system design changes over time. The IO500 follows a two-staged approach. First, there will be a two-week stabilization period during which we encourage the community to verify that the benchmark runs properly on a variety of storage systems. During this period the benchmark may be updated based upon feedback from the community. The final benchmark will then be released. We expect that runs compliant with the rules made during the stabilization period will be valid as a final submission unless a significant defect is found. 10 Client Node I/O Challenge The 10 Client Node Challenge is conducted using the regular IO500 benchmark, however, with the rule that exactly 10 client nodes must be used to run the benchmark. You may use any shared storage with any number of servers. We will announce the results in the Production and Research lists as well as in separate derived lists. Birds-of-a-Feather Once again, we encourage you to submit to join our community, and to attend the SC25 BoF where we will announce the new IO500 Production and Research lists and their 10 client node counterparts. Be Part of the Community Submissions of all sizes are welcome; the webpage has customizable sorting, so it is possible to submit on a small system and still get a very good per-client score, for example. We will also highlight new and interesting results with invited talk(s) at the BoF.

The workshop seeks to advance the consolidation of the RISC-V community within the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and to disseminate the advantages of this technology among researchers, software developers, and supercomputing practitioners. RISC-V, as an open-standard Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), provides the foundation for developing CPUs without royalty restrictions and supports the establishment of a shared software environment. Owing to its community-driven character, the ISA has stimulated the design of a heterogeneous range of processors, each targeting distinct computational requirements. Although RISC-V has already become prominent in several technological domains—marked most recently by the shipment of its sixteenth billion core—it has not yet achieved significant integration within HPC. The trajectory of RISC-V, however, indicates considerable promise for supercomputing. Should the pace of expansion observed in recent years persist, its adoption in HPC workloads is expected to grow throughout the present decade. Technical advances reinforce this expectation: newly developed CPUs and accelerators based on RISC-V are beginning to demonstrate performance capabilities far exceeding those of earlier generations, making the architecture increasingly competitive in high-performance contexts. The openness and standardization of RISC-V are central to its strength. They enable a broad and expanding community of stakeholders to contribute to both the evolution of the ISA and the associated tooling. For HPC, this dual role is particularly relevant. First, it provides an avenue to shape the ISA so that it aligns with the demands of upcoming supercomputing systems. Second, it ensures that, despite the proliferation of diverse CPU implementations, software ecosystems—compilers, operating systems, and libraries—tend to remain portable across platforms with limited modification required. This workshop is therefore positioned as a forum to connect proponents of RISC-V in HPC with the wider supercomputing community. Through the exchange of practical experiences, discussion of benefits, and presentation of successful use cases, the event intends to stimulate broader recognition of RISC-V and to foster greater participation in its ongoing development. The Energy Efficient HPC State of the Practice workshop will focus on the operational, infrastructural, and environmental challenges of deploying and managing modern high-performance computing systems. The primary objective of this workshop is to capture and disseminate best practices, case studies, and reproducible operational experiences from HPC centers, facilities, and vendors worldwide. While energy efficiency has long been recognized as a critical constraint, sustainability metrics such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, embodied carbon, and water consumption are now also coming into focus. This workshop will explore how to address these challenges across the full lifecycle of HPC systems — from design and manufacturing through daily operations, reuse, and decommissioning. This year’s workshop also broadens its lens to consider AI infrastructure, which increasingly mirrors HPC in system architecture and operational demands. There are lessons to be learned from the HPC community that should help with the operation of Megawatt-scale AI racks, warm-water cooling, and hyperscale deployments. The convergence of these domains presents an opportunity to align practices, metrics, and innovations in service of a shared future where performance and sustainability must coexist. As part of this peer-reviewed workshop, we solicit papers that capture best practices, policies, procedures, and technologies. The vision is to help the broader community benefit from these experiences. The papers are intended to identify use cases, lessons learned, and best practices in design, commissioning, and operations. The solicited papers will be generally descriptive with concrete, reproducible, and empirical data gathered through surveys, case studies, and research for practice. Workshop Topics -------------------------------- Workshop Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following areas: * Operational Data Analytics * HPC performance for power, energy, carbon, and/or water * Monitoring and control of power & energy * Cooling technologies * Mechanical and electrical system design * Procurement considerations * Sustainability modeling, measurement, monitoring, and management * Energy-efficient computing across hardware, software, system architecture, and operations, including application-centric approaches * Emerging challenges in HPC and AI workloads * Digital twins Paper Submission -------------------------------- SCA/HPCAsia 2026 plans to provide an electronic proceedings publication for accepted workshop papers. [AI4S]: Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Scientific Applications To be held in conjunction with SCA/HPCAsia 2026 Monday, January 26, 2026 Osaka, Japan -------------- Overview -------------- The purpose of this workshop is to bring together computer scientists and domain scientists from academia, government, and industry to share recent advances in the use of AI/ML in various scientific applications, introduce new scientific application problems to the broader community, and stimulate tools and infrastructures not only to support the application of AI/ML in scientific applications but also effectively utilize existing and future HPC systems for AI/ML-based scientific applications The workshop will be organized as a series of plenary talks based on peer-reviewed paper submissions accompanied by keynotes from distinguished researchers in the area and a panel discussion. EmotionSense workshop focuses on two complementary objectives, addressing the realm of pervasive computing. First, to explore how unobtrusive sensing of cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and contextual human data—with particular emphasis on affective states—can drive the development of innovative computing experiences. Second, to investigate novel algorithms and AI techniques for the automatic recognition of emotions and, more general, health and well-being conditions, based on mobile and wearable sensors. The synergy between human-centered computational sensing and emotion recognition is critical, as the emotional state both influences and is influenced by sensing technologies. This bidirectional relationship has significant implications for the design and application of pervasive computing systems in real-world, human-centered environments. We invite to this workshop unique contributions addressing these challenges. EmotionSense 2026 aims to facilitate collaboration among research groups working on emotion recognition for pervasive computing and human-centered computational sensing.
