[SPS20] 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Self-Protecting Systems: COVID-19 UPDATES AND DEADLINE EXTENSION
by Fabiana Rossi 01 Apr '20

01 Apr '20

Dear colleagues, we hope you and your families remain in good health and spirits during these unusual times. Due to COVID-19, we updated the call for papers of the 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Self-Protecting Systems (SPS20). More details follow. Best regards, Fabiana Rossi =============================== 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Self-Protecting Systems (SPS20) Washington, DC, August 17, 2020https://sites.google.com/view/sps20 ######### Call For Papers ######### ========= TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION ========== Effectively protecting computer systems from cyber-attacks is a challenging task due to their large scale and the heterogeneity of the underlying hardware and software components. Furthermore, when trying to defend from an attack, the time factor is critical and any non-guided human resolution attempt could introduce a significant stress and delay to the execution of the proper response. This situation provides the attackers more time to accomplish their objectives. Several organizations, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), have released guidelines and best practices to manage cyber-security related risk (e.g., the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 1.1). However, despite a growing interest in the area in the last 5 years, automation of cyber-security operations is still at its early stages. Automatically defending a computer system encompasses a large number of activities, that range from data capture, management and analysis, to automated decision making and automated system operations. In this workshop, we solicit high quality contributions that fit with the overarching idea of creating a fully automated protection system. The aim of the workshop is to share new findings, exchange ideas and discuss research challenges on the following topics (not an exhaustive list): * Distributed System Monitoring * Secure Monitoring * Feature Selection * Automatic Data Correlation (Batch/Streaming) * Intrusion Detection * Anomaly Detection * Threats Detection * Cyber-Deception: approaches, analysis, honeypots, metrics, moving target defense * Software engineering for self-protecting systems: System architectures, services, components and platforms, Goal specification and policies * Risk Management * Intrusion Response * Attack Modeling * Defense Modeling * Implementation of prototypes that integrate cutting edge technologies, e.g., Software Defined Networks, Container-Based systems, applications based on micro-services * Non-Stationary Systems Modeling * Behavioural Modeling * Cooperative/Competitive Multi-agents modeling Furthermore, we solicit submissions that examine the self-protection problem from an holistic perspective, that is, that will consider the overall picture and propose novel software architectures, frameworks and technologies to ease the realization of self-protecting systems. ========= Organizing Committee ========= In alphabetical order: * Emiliano Casalicchio Sapienza University of Rome and Blekinge Institute of Technology Department of Computer Science Via Salaria, 113 - 00198 Rome, Italy * Stefano Iannucci Mississippi State University Computer Science and Engineering 4665 George Perry Street, Mississippi State, MS, 39762 * Byron J. Deadline extension - International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP 2020 in Austin, TX USA)
by Klinkenberg, Jannis 01 Apr '20

01 Apr '20

May 15th -- New IWOMP Paper Submission Deadline https://iwomp2020.org 16th International Workshop on OpenMP Austin, TX Sept. 23-25, 2020 Since research schedules have been disrupted, the submission deadline has been extended by 3 weeks. See the Call for Papers at the web site for adjustments in important dates. If social distancing is necessary in the fall, TACC will host the conference virtually. General Chair, Kent Milfeld (TACC) Program Chairs, Bronis de Supinski (LLNL) and Lars Koesterke (TACC) ============================================================ CALL FOR PAPERS: 16th International Workshop on OpenMP IWOMP 2020 September 23-25, 2020 Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) Austin, TX USA New Paper Deadline: May 15 (check updates @website) https://www.iwomp2020.org The International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP) is an annual workshop dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel programming with OpenMP. It is the premier forum to present and to discuss issues, trends, recent research ideas, and results related to parallel programming with OpenMP. We solicit quality submissions of unpublished technical papers that detail innovative, original research and development related to OpenMP. BACKGROUND: As computing hardware has evolved from simple core reproduction to advanced SIMD units, deeper memories, and heterogeneous computing, OpenMP has also evolved and extended its application interface to harness new capabilities throughout the spectrum of hardware advances. New features and extensions of the OpenMP 5.0 interface have taken major steps to provide control of the parallelism within the paradigms and complexity of modern C/C++ and Fortran programming languages. OpenMP enhancements range from operational aspects deep within the vector execution units, up through the cores and memory, and beyond, to offloading across accelerator devices. Advances in technologies, such as multi-core processors and OpenMP devices (accelerators such as GPGPUs, DSPs or FPGAs), Multiprocessor Systems on a Chip (MPSoCs), and recent developments in OpenMP itself (e.g., metadirectives and variants for selecting device- and architecture-specific directives) present new opportunities and challenges for software and hardware developers. Recent advances in the C, C++ and Fortran base languages also offer interesting opportunities and challenges to the OpenMP programming model. TOPICS: All topics related to parallelism in OpenMP are of interest, including OpenMP Specific: * Vectorization * Offloading to Devices * Memory Model * Memory Policies (Affinity) and Management * Tasking * Affinity * Runtime Environment * Performance Analysis and Modeling * Tools * Proposed OpenMP Extensions * OpenMP Applications in Any Domain (scientific and numerical computations, video games, computer graphics, multimedia, information retrieval, optimization, text processing, data mining, finance, signal and image processing and machine learning). IWOMP 2020 solicits submissions in the areas above as well as ones that have adapted OpenMP to other models of parallelism, such as event loops or real-time processing. Submitted papers for review should be limited to 12 pages (not counting references). The IWOMP 2020 proceedings will be published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Hope to see y'all in Austin this fall! General Chair, Kent Milfeld (TACC) Program Chairs, Bronis de Supinski (LLNL) and Lars Koesterke (TACC)
