CALL FOR PAPERS Eighth International Workshop on Heterogeneous High-performance Reconfigurable Computing (H2RC) Workshop Date: All Day Monday, November 14, 2022 http://h2rc.cse.sc.edu Accepted papers will be indexed and published in the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library Submission Deadline: August 15, 2022 (extended) (8-page full papers or 2-page extended abstract, see below) Submission link: https://bit.ly/h2rc2022 As conventional von-Neumann architectures are suffering from rising power densities, we are facing an era with power, energy efficiency, and cooling as first-class constraints for scalable HPC. FPGAs can tailor the hardware to the application, avoiding overheads and achieving higher hardware efficiency than general-purpose architectures. Leading FPGA manufacturers have recently made a concerted effort to provide a range of higher-level, easier-to-use high-level programming models for FPGAs, and much of the work in FPGA-based deep learning is built on these frameworks. Such initiatives are already stimulating new interest within the HPC community around the potential advantages of FPGAs over other architectures. With this in mind, this workshop, now in its eighth year, brings together HPC and heterogeneous computing researchers to demonstrate and share experiences on how newly-available high-level programming models are already empowering HPC software developers to directly leverage FPGAs and to identify future opportunities and needs for research in this area. Submission Tracks and Contribution Selection Submissions are solicited for two tracks: Track 1: Full-length papers (8 pages, excluding references) for oral presentation and publication in proceedings archived by IEEE. Track 2: Extended abstracts / talk proposals (2 pages, excluding references) oral presentation without publication. Track 1 is targeted for technical papers containing a high level of implementation detail and analysis of experimental results. Track 1 is suited for members of the academic and national lab community who prefer to have their work peer-reviewed, indexed, and archived by IEEE. Track 2 is targeted for industrial contributions that describe new capabilities and opportunities offered by emerging technologies and products, or work in progress presentations by the academic and national lab community. The emphasis of this track is to initiate a discussion with the audience. These extended abstracts will be made available on the conference website. All submissions are peer reviewed and evaluated by at least three members of our technical program committee (TPC). From the TPC evaluation of each submission, the organizing committee will select papers for presentation based on a criteria that is equally weighted between scientific merit and level of interest and relevance to the HPC community. Submission Topics Submissions are solicited that explore the state of the art in the use of FPGAs in heterogeneous high-performance compute architectures and, at a system level, in data centers and supercomputers. FPGAs may be considered from either or both the distributed, parallel and composable fabric of compute elements or from their dynamic reconfigurability. Submissions investigating the use of FPGAs in combination with other devices such as CPU/GPU/APU/DPU are particularly welcomed. Submissions may report on theoretical or applied research, implementation case studies, benchmarks, standards, or any other area that promises to make a significant contribution to our understanding of heterogeneous high-performance reconfigurable computing and help to shape future research and implementations in this domain. A non-comprehensive list of potential topics of interest is given below: 1. Use of FPGAs to improve performance or efficiency of HPC or data center applications 2. System integration of FPGAs in clouds and distributed HPC systems 3. Leveraging reconfigurability 4. Benchmarks 6. Programming languages, tools, and frameworks 7. Future-gazing Submission Guidelines Full papers (Track 1) Authors should submit original contributions of up to 8 pages (excluding references) in PDF format using the SC22 Linklings portal (https://submissions.supercomputing.org) which is also linked from the H2RC website (https://h2rc.cse.sc.edu) Submissions must be formatted as single-spaced, double-column, 8 US letter pages without page numbers following the IEEE conference proceedings format, including figures and tables. by Engelmann, Christian 26 Jul '22

26 Jul '22

We apologize if you receive multiple copies of this notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ScalAH22: 13th Workshop on Latest Advances in Scalable Algorithms for Large-Scale Heterogeneous Systems held in conjunction with SC22: The International Conference on High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society November 13, 2022, Dallas, TX, USA <http://www.csm.ornl.gov/srt/conferences/Scala/2022> Novel hybrid scalable scientific algorithms are needed with the advent of variety of novel accelerators including graphics processing units (GPUs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) as well as with the growth of the size of quantum computing devices and neuromorphic chips and various artificial intelligence (AI) specific processors. This myriad of devices requires an unified hybrid approach that allows efficient and scalable hybrid approaches combining classical and novel computing paradigms to be implemented at scale. These extreme-scale heterogeneous systems require novel scientific algorithms to hide the complexity, hide network and memory latency, have advanced communication, and have no synchronization points where possible. With the advent of AI in the past few years the need of such scalable mathematical methods and algorithms for such hybrid architectures that are able to handle data and compute intensive applications at scale becomes even more important. Scientific algorithms for multi-petaflop and exa-flop systems also need to be fault tolerant and fault resilient, since the probability of faults increases with scale. Resilience at the system software and at the algorithmic level is needed as a crosscutting effort. Key science applications require novel mathematics and mathematical models and system software that address the scalability and resilience challenges of current- and future-generation extreme-scale heterogeneous high performance computing (HPC) systems. Call for Papers: Intel4EC Workshop 2022 in conjunction with IEEE/ACM UCC 2022, Deadline 15th August 2022, AOE
by Saurabh, N. (Nishant) 26 Jul '22

26 Jul '22

-------------------------------------------------- Apologies if you receive this more than once. --------------------------------------------------- Intel4EC 2022: 1st International Workshop on Intelligent and Adaptive Edge-Cloud Operations and Services in conjunction with 15th IEEE/ACM Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing (UCC 2022) Portland, Oregon, USA, December 6-9, 2022 —————————————— Workshop website: https://www.intel4ec-workshop.nl/ —————————————— Submission link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=intel4ec —————————————— Submission Deadline: August 15th, 2022, AOE ------- Scope: ------- The emergence of Computing Continuum with ever-expanding Cloud boundaries and its evolution into the proverbial Fog, Edge, and IoT paradigms has paved the way for realizing transformational and innovative digital solutions. Emerging application areas such as smart transportation logistics, smart cities, healthcare, and industry 4.0 sectors encompassing highly distributed services that use many devices involving large-scale data generation, gathering, storage, and analysis in real-time further encourage its adoption. While the geo-distributed and federated nature of the continuum continues to improve the agility, responsiveness, and effectiveness of such distributed applications. This paradigmatic shift in the post-digital transformation era has also triggered drastically changing expectations of dynamic service deployment and infrastructure usage patterns, further introducing significant complexities to the Edge-Cloud management layers. These include challenges related to performance sustainability, sprawl management, resilience, and scalability of massive digital operations and services. These issues break down to reconciling many and typically allude to dynamically changing demand, requirements, and constraints of digital applications, which require the Edge-Cloud infrastructures to be deployed in sites that are in large numbers and are sometimes located in remote areas. To manage such fault-prone Edge-Cloud systems, infrastructure and service providers rely on human-intensive means to meet the increasing capacity demand and high availability of digital services. However, due to the continuously changing landscape, utilizing manual interventions to manage such large-scale systems is implausible. Hence, mitigating such issues requires digital applications and Edge-Cloud infrastructure to reposition their focus from adopting more efficient, effective, quick, and cheap compute capabilities to embracing more autonomous and self-driven technologies. Recently, Intelligent Cloud Operations and Services (a.k.a AIOps) gained traction that advocates using AI/ML techniques to embed intelligence at the Edge-Cloud management layers and automate digital operations and services by only requiring human intervention for critical issues beyond automation capabilities. While AIOps is still in an emerging phase, academia and industry foresee many possible advancements ranging from root-cause analysis, early anomaly detection, and mitigation to predictive and prescriptive maintenance and management in Edge-Cloud systems. Additionally, such AIOps powered transformation can ensure that the continuum supply chain meets the heightened user demands in terms of openness, security, privacy and resilience, energy and resource efficiency and provide Cloud-Edge technologies with an ability to scale, accelerate innovation and enable industry-specific needs. The Intel4EC workshop aims to bring together researchers, developers and practitioners from academia and industry to present their experiences, results and research progress covering architectural designs, methods and applications of AI/ML-enabled Edge-Cloud operations and services. By bringing together these research topics, Intel4EC looks forward to helping the community define open standards, AI/ML benchmarks that contribute to experiment reproducibility and systematize the complete management pipeline for a myriad of Cloud-Edge operations. ---------- Topics ---------- Intel4EC 2022 workshop aims to attract the Cloud, Fog, Edge, Big Data, AI/ML and distributed computing community for novel research contributions to intelligent, adaptive, manageable and observable Edge-Cloud systems that include topics of interest, but are not limited to: Performance instrumentation, monitoring and observability Causal attribution and root-cause analysis Performance diagnosis and prognosis Failure prediction and fault localisation Anomaly detection and prediction Chaos engineering and analytics Capacity planning, scalability and workload management Edge-Cloud sprawl management and multi-tenancy issues AI/ML techniques for cost and energy-efficient operations Adaptive resource provisioning, scheduling and run-time optimisation Trust, security and privacy-preserving AI/ML SLA breach, violation and vulnerability detection Service discovery and microservice composition Intelligent programming models Distributed data (e.g., logs, traces) integration, management and analysis Self-adaptive and self-healing systems Experiment reproducibility, benchmarks, and application case-studies ----------------------- Submission Guidelines: ----------------------- The Intel4EC workshop invites original research papers that have not been previously published and are not currently under review for publication elsewhere. The following paper categories are welcome: Regular Full Papers: Full research papers should describe the original work and be no longer than 6 pages (+ 2 for additional fee). by Calyam, Prasad P. 24 Jul '22

24 Jul '22

***Apologies if you got multiple copies of this CFP Call for Papers Trustworthy Edge Computing Workshop 2022 (in conjunction with ACM SEC 2022, Seattle, USA, Dec 5th – 8th 2022) http://acm-ieee-sec.org/2022/tec22.php Edge computing has become a topic of significant interest in academic and industrial research, driven by the fundamental improvements in latency, bandwidth savings and energy efficiency it offers with respect to offloading application workloads. While many envisioned applications in edge computing are relevant in the context of real-time analytics and feedback, most of the research today approaches edge computing from a “best effort” perspective, focusing on expected/average system behavior. Nevertheless, in order to make edge computing appealing for consumer applications, trustworthiness must be considered as a key design objective. Thus, depending on the application, systems must go beyond the provisioning of average system behavior assurances. In this way, trustworthiness directly relates to predictability, latency as well as availability/reliability. However, beyond such standard metrics for networked systems, security and safety of edge-based applications will also play an important role, while relating properties of the edge infrastructure and of the associated applications running on top of the infrastructure. We solicit contributions towards trustworthy edge computing systems and applications, such as (but not limited to): · Theoretical and/or practical results targeting at predictability of edge computing systems with respect to computational and communication aspects · Models and algorithms to determine trustworthiness of edge computing systems and corresponding applications · Orchestration mechanisms to integrate edge and cloud computing resources · Security, privacy and safety mechanisms for assurance of edge computing systems · General theoretical and/or practical results on integrated communication and computation aspects of edge computing systems and applications · Volunteer edge computing with distributed resource brokering · Federated learning via edge systems in relation to safety, security and privacy · Trustworthy edge -assisted artificial intelligence · Application-oriented resource allocation and cross-layer optimization · Software engineering aspects towards trustworthy edge systems and applications · Consumer applications for trustworthy edge computing in residential, industry, or government sectors · Service level agreements, contracts or similar approaches for handling multiple users/tenants settings in heterogeneous mixed criticality applications · Social, economic and behavioral considerations for building sustainable edge computing systems and applications Key Dates & Submission Instructions • Submission deadline: September 9th 2022 • Notification: October 4th 2022 • Camera-ready paper deadline: October 14th 2022 Only electronic submissions in PDF will be accepted. Submitted papers must be written in English and must render without error using standard PDF viewing tools. Furthermore, submitted papers must be no longer than 6 single-spaced 8.5″ x 11″ pages, including figures and tables, but excluding references, and using 10-point type on 11-point (single-spaced) leading, two-column format, Times Roman or a similar font, within a text block 6.5″ wide x 9″ deep. ACM Standard template for Latex and Word meet these specifications and can be found at: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. At least one author for each accepted paper for the TEC Workshop 2021 must register for the workshop. More information on the submission process to be provided soon. Organization TEC 2022 will be a half-day workshop with two paper presentation sessions, one keynote and potentially a poster / short-paper presentation session. TPC Chairs - Jaya Champati, IMDEA Madrid - Prasad Calyam, University of Missouri Organizing Chair - James Gross, KTH Stockholm
