This has significant impact in a wide range of domains including health care, bio-medical research, Internet search, finance and business informatics, and scientific computing. Despite considerable advancements on high performance, large storage, and high computation power, there are challenges in identifying, clustering, classifying, and interpreting of a large spectrum of information. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a fertile ground for collaboration between research institutions and industries and in analytics, machine learning, and high performance computing. Cloud Computing for Enhanced Living Environments: Algorithms, Architectures and Platforms (Cloud4ELE) Submission deadline: 1 April 2016 Publication date: November/December 2016 The concept of Enhanced Living Environments (ELE) promotes the seamless integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) within context-aware homes and residences, with the aim of constructing smart environments around assisted people (for example, the elderly and people with disabilities) to help them maintain an independent or more autonomous lifestyle, reduce the corresponding costs of health and social care, and achieve improved quality of life and advanced autonomy, mobility, social interaction, self-confidence, independence, and social inclusion. The computation power made available by highly advanced datacenters can now be brought closer to the user, thanks to mobile platforms. And the actual interconnection between mobile and cloud systems is made possible by combining the capabilities of individuals, as they interact with each other and their information, through well-design ubiquitous technology. Platforms of tomorrow will benefit from this combination, through the help of new models for understanding the environment (such as participatory and opportunistic mobile sensing), performing computation (such as mobile cloud computing), or even exchanging data (such as mobile ad hoc networks). The goal of this special issue is to bring together state-of-the-art research efforts describing original and unpublished work that addresses advanced cloud computing challenges and solutions for ELE realization. IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing Call for Doctoral Symposium The Doctoral Symposium of the IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing (CCGrid) provides a forum for students in all areas of Cluster, Grid and Cloud research to obtain visibility, feedback and advice on their Ph.D. dissertation topics and on their research careers. The Symposium promotes fruitful interactions and networking between student researchers at a similar stage in their careers. The program committee consists of experts in the field and will provide their valuable feedback to the ongoing research work of participating students. Selected students will present their work in front of an audience of both their peer and researchers and will also be invited to present their work as a poster in the poster exhibition of CCGrid. What is Doctoral Symposium? Especially this is a place where traditional HPC scientists can encounter embedded-HPC scientists and vice-versa, to talk about issues and new solutions for programming many-cores. This is a good place to discuss about emerging targets (new many-core processors) or emerging solutions to program them or making the execution more efficient (through software or hardware features). Recently, the amount of services has increased exponentially. To improve their efficiency and reduce costs, modern organizations are shifting their services to the Cloud. Lower costs are increasing the demand for cloud services with a consequent increment in the size and kind of information to be stored, processed, and analyzed. A question is arising and is becoming a driver for innovation: “Is it sustainable?”. The energy demand in this context is an important aspect that can not be disregarded. This issue has been widely studied under the name of Green Information Systems (Green IS) and Green Information Technologies (Green IT). However, there are still many open challenges. In this workshop we propose to tackle energy-awareness of cloud-based business activities, from the application to the resource management. We focus the attention over the explosion of the Internet of Things ecosystem and the Big Data challenge that arises in modern ISs, which have an impact over the energy consumption due to their maintenance and analysis. The workshop will focus on novel methodologies for the management and measurement of energy efficiency in modern information systems, considering the challenge introduced by Big Data and the opportunity offered by IoT. Topics include but are not limited to: - Energy-aware Information Systems and big data management; - Adaptive approaches and learning-based methods to manage energy consumption and quality of service of applications and systems; - Virtualization and smart deployment of next-generation applications; - Methodologies and tools to support energy efficiency in large scale data centers and clouds; - Energy-awareness and sustainability in IS: metrics and measurements; - Energy efficiency in Mobile Cloud Computing and Internet of Things scenarios. EnBIS2016 will be co-located in Ljubljiana with the 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems (CAISE'16, 13-17 June 2016). BEST PAPER AWARD ================= The best paper will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems (IJCIS). To be selected the paper must include a validation of the proposed approach. The authors of the paper elected as best paper will have to provide an extended version for submission to a fast evaluation track in IJCIS. CALL FOR PAPERS: IWOMP 2016 - 12th International Workshop on OpenMP October 5-7, 2016 Nara, Japan http://www.iwomp.org == Background For many years, OpenMP has provided a very rich and flexible programming model for shared memory architectures. OpenMP 4.0 was a major advance that added two new forms of parallelism and OpenMP 4.5 added substantial improvements for them and other aspects of the specification. OpenMP now includes a rich set of device constructs to support heterogeneous systems like GPUs,FPGAs, DSPs, and SIMD constructs to support vector units in addition to the support for task-based parallelism that has been present since OpenMP 3.0. The International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP) is an annual workshop dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel programming with OpenMP. It is the premier forum to present and discuss issues, trends, recent research ideas, and results related to parallel programming with OpenMP. GreeNets 2016 seeks proposals for posters and live demonstrations describing novel work on green mobile networks, system architectures, networking and communication protocols, applications, test-bed and prototype, traffic balance and energy-efficient cooperation transmission, system and application issues related to GreeNets. Posters and demonstrations will be presented during a reception at the conference. The poster/demo session is meant to introduce new and ongoing work and provide opportunities for authors to interact directly with conference attendees. Posters sessions provide a forum for researchers to present their work in progress that can generate discussion or promising new ideas from experts. On the other hand, live demos session will offer a unique opportunity to showcase real prototypes, tools, and systems to the conference attendees. The areas of interest for both poster and demo abstracts are the same as for full research papers. Please refer to: http://greenets.org/2016/show/cf-papers. [Submission] Demo and poster abstracts must not exceed 3 pages. Titles should start with "Poster: ..." or "Demo: ..." depending on the case. Submissions may not be anonymous. Poster and demo abstracts will be reviewed by at least three members of the poster/demo committee to ensure quality and matching to the goals of the poster/demo session as well as to the conference’s topics. Accepted poster and demo abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings. Demo and poster proposals should include the following: - The purpose and goals of the work. - Any background and motivation needed to understand the work. - Any critical hypotheses and assumptions that underlie the work. - A clear summary of the contribution and/or results, in sufficient detail for a (re)viewer to understand the work and its relevance. If the work is at an initial stage, it is especially important to state clearly the anticipated contributions and any early results towards them. - The relationship to other related efforts, where appropriate. Authors of accepted posters may be asked to point out relationships to work represented by other accepted posters. - Where to find additional information (a web site where viewers can go to find additional information about the work how to contact the authors, including email addresses citations for any papers, books, or other materials that provide additional information) If selected, authors shall prepare a final, camera ready version of the extended abstract, taking into account all feedback from reviewers, and formatted according to the GreeNets conference. [Presentation at the conference] In addition to space given to every accepted abstract during the poster/demo session, one author of the abstract will be given a slot in a further "10-minute madness" session within the main program. In this session, authors will have the opportunity to describe their work to the entire conference audience with a single slide and a 10-minute speech. BPOE-7 Call for Papers ------------------------- The Seventh workshop on Big Data Benchmarks, Performance Optimization, and Emerging Hardware Web: http://www.bafst.com/events/asplos16/bpoe7/ Co-located with ASPLOS 2016 April 3rd, 2016, Atlanta, Georiga, USA * Introduction Big data has emerged as a strategic property of nations and organizations. There are driving needs to generate values from big data. However, the sheer volume of big data requires significant storage capacity, transmission bandwidth, computations, and power consumption. It is expected that systems with unprecedented scales can resolve the problems caused by varieties of big data with daunting volumes. Nevertheless, without big data benchmarks, it is very difficult for big data owners to make choice on which system is best for meeting with their specific requirements. They also face challenges on how to optimize the systems and their solutions for specific or even comprehensive workloads. Meanwhile, researchers are also working on innovative data management systems, hardware architectures, operating systems, and programming systems to improve performance in dealing with big data. This workshop, the seventh its series, focuses on architecture and system support for big data systems, aiming at bringing researchers and practitioners from data management, architecture, and systems research communities together to discuss the research issues at the intersection of these areas. * Call for papers Topics: The workshop seeks papers that address hot topic issues in benchmarking, designing and optimizing big data systems.
